I just returned from a short but great trip to the Boardwalk and for the first time the Food and Wine Festival. First and foremost observation - next year a full week is needed!
The weather was absolutely wonderful!! Arrived Thursday morning, Sunny and exceptionally warm for this time of year; 90's all 4 days. No complaints here; I finally got that tan that I didn't get this summer.
We stayed in a Preferred Pool View studio 3130. Waaaaaaay down the hall near the Exit staircase. No problem; we were close to the quiet pool and walked down the stairs. Quiet pool was nice. First time using it. Fun Noodles are a blast...floated around for hours!! Room was just fine; no problems and yes; we did have the new pull out sofa. Not like the new ones at SSR at all. But just as comfortable.
This was a girls only trip so we just had to schedule a massage at the Health Club. GREAT!!! Ok...it's not the Spa At Saratoga. But Lisa had hands that should be encased in gold!
Wonderful. And with the discount for DVC members, a 50 minute massage was $72.00
Food and Wine Festival - being this was my first time I didn't have much to go on except what I've read here on the boards. I will have to say however that Saturday night it was packed. And I don't mean packed like summer time. I mean packed to the point that I was uncomfortable and if it was my first evening there I would have been very upset. We went in Thursday afternoon and Friday night and the crowds were much more manageable. Food...some items I loved and some I didn't. But hey...that's what's nice about this. You get to try items you normally might not. Portions well, I did imagine just a little more since "appetizer" portions normally are larger. But at least I didn't get filled up fast. All in all it was great fun and I'll be back next year.
Parks - definately not as crowded as in the summer. I've never been to WDW except during the summer so this was a treat. We did have to use fast pass a few times, but that's because we wandered in to MGM on an Early Opening morning and didn't realize it. No big deal. Could not get on Nemo; it was broke. Soarin was 75 minute wait each time we went and no more fast passes available. No problem; there's always the next time. Test Track is definately better in the dark of night!
Magical experience - I lost my park ticket. Yep. On our last day we were in MGM and I guess when I pulled out my fast pass I also pulled out the ticket. We're on our way to Epcot and that's when I realized it was gone. Went back to MGM headed to Guest Relations and met Kamilia. She sent me to lost and found and no luck there. The CM at Lost and Found said to me "funny, you have the same last name as my buddy Jerry". I said really? Then I remembered my nephew is on an internship program with the Disney Institute. I asked " is his name really Jerimiah? and he said yes!! Well it was my nephew and he came to meet us. He was on his break and managed to get to the front of the park. Long story short he walked me back to Guest Relations and explained I was his Aunt and I again told Kamilia that it was my last night and I only needed admission to Epcot cause I had dinner reservations and had to shop!! Well she did explain that "lost tickets are not WDW responsibility....BUT.....made an expcetion and issued me a "complementry 1 day park hopper". That was cool. Thank you Kamilia at Guest Relations MGM and my darling nephew Jerry CM MGM!!!!
I'll be more than happy to try and answer any questions anyone may have! Now back to work here.
Sure do wish I was back at WDW.....
