Just Back from BLT!!

This is making me want to take a solo trip....and I think I WILL. :thumbsup2

It was great and really relaxing. Best 36 points I ever spent!:rotfl: I do like WDW for solo trips. There's an all inclusive feel to being there and it is familiar territory. Loved Magical Express and bell services. It felt like a cruise:goodvibes

Great report. Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to get home to see your pictures. (They're blocked here at work.)

I'm glad to find someone else with a great deal of enthusiasm for the Wave. We've loved it the several times we've eaten there. Maybe you can join me in listing it on the favorite DVC resort restaurant thread. :rotfl2: Right now, I think I'm the only one who mentions the Wave.

Hi Dave! I thought about your THV trip report while there!:rotfl::rotfl: I was wondering how much distance was between the bed and the wall in my studio, and following your measurement technique, it is 2 WDW Pens wide!:lmao:

The Wave was great! It was also nice because despite it being Free Dining, I was able to reserve all my dinners there. The quality is definitely there and I will definitely return! I liked the atmosphere also, tables were not crammed in, etc. Perfect place for me and I never felt uncomfortable being solo either. Staff was very friendly and outgoing.

Sounds like you had a very relaxing time. Kudos to you for training for the maratihon. I am so jealous you were there alone !!!! I would love a trip like yours

Hi Kat, thank you for the words of encouragement!:goodvibes I signed up for the race to motivate me to get fit, but I did not realize how far 6 miles really is or how fast a 15 minute pace is! My goal is to not get picked up by the rear pace car!:lmao:

:rotfl2: I don't know that I would have thought of the pens. I probably would have used a washcloth. ;)

Thanks for the great report!
We just joined DVC, our first trip to BLT is mid October, can't wait!

I was going to post this closer to our trip, but you made me think...our reservation is for a 1BR, Lake View...I've been keeping tabs on the fantastic room grid that Work2play has set up.
I was thinking of asking for a room (if possible) on the outside, facing north..basically sneaking a MK view from a LV room.
I don't know if I want to do that now...it seems like you can always see the Fireworks from the TOWL, and during the day, who wants to look down at a parking lot and maintenance area??
I'm thinking of trying now for an inside room at check-in, so our morning coffee view will be Bay Lake, the Wilderness, etc...
Thoughts anyone?

Hadn't really thought of it like this, but you make a great point.

We're making our first trip home in December in 1BR LV. For us, if we're around BLT during fireworks, I'll be at TOWL having an appetizer and beverage. I want to make sure to support TOWL and try to keep it for people staying at BLT. For us the fun of LV is being able to see the activity on the water, so we're hoping for inner C or Southern side outer C.

Whatever we end up with, I'm sure it will be great. How can it not be, we'll be at WDW staying at a monorail resort and able to walk to MK.
Also, our fireworks preference is to be in the park and then stroll back to the resort afterward. Nothing quite like staying in MK until Main Street is empty.

Thanks for the great report!

Welcome Home neighbor:thumbsup2

For me, I want the interior of the C or full lake view. I love water views and one of the reasons I love SSR DTD view. The view is uninterrupted.

Once I checked in, I took the elevator up to 5 to go across the skybridge. My sis from NY called so I plopped down on the bench facing MK and had a leisurely chat with her. I sat there over an hour chatting. I did not get the best cell phone reception so once I had a signal I didnt move around too much.

All the time Im enjoying the MK view, but also noticing how prominent the parking lot and maintenance area are. During the day, it is all about the monorail and parking lot. I saw people bringing in their luggage, cars parking, cars bumping into other cars and taking off!;) etc.

None of that from the inside of the "C". My standard view was courtyard view where I could hear the fountain, ;)then pool where I could hear the music playing and then a piece of the lake where I could hear the boats whistle and the EWP at 10pm. All magical sights and sounds and I really enjoyed it. The view from TOWL is excellent but the lot is lit at night (obvious safety reasons) so you still see it fully from up there even at night.

I dont mean to be a downer on the MK view, but sharing my opinion. Maybe that is why they only make up 20% of BLT. Im just glad there are not more pointwise, and they will still be in great demand and it will all work out for those that want it and for those that want standard and Lake views.

Thanks for the report and I agree with your MK view assessment it has always been the one thing that kept me from being a fan of the Contemporary. At any other deluxe resort, the parking lot is the least desirable view and at the Contemporary the most desirable view includes the parking lot.

How did you feel about the placement of the bathroom sink and kitchenette?

Fot those who may also stay in a studio room, could you tell me where the laundry facility is located?

Thanks,

What a great trip you had! Thank you for sharing and the great photos-you're so right, there's nothing like a water view! :)
