We spent the weekend at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson (available through the Concierge Collection) and had a great time. Had a honeymoon cabin with a loft in the Devil's Pool area. Right on the lake, great view. Had a fireplace and they supply plenty of wood. Every evening the Cookie Lady comes around to hand out Pepparkakor spice cookies in the shape of the resort's logo pine tree. There were tons of Christmas decorations and lots of activities. At 6pm there was a tree lighting near the registration center and Santa & Mrs. Claus for the kids. And lots of rides in horse-drawn carriages and wagons festooned with Christmas lights.

We hopped over and checked out the Wilderness Club timeshares. Very nice. They've done a good job with it. It has both lodge rooms and log cabins. The pool area has a "lazy river" feature for warmer weather.

We had an excellent dinner at the Devil's Pool Restaurant and wonderful room service breakfasts (what a treat!).

If you ever get the chance, this resort is NOT to be missed at Christmas.

Thanx for the report, DisFlan. That is on our "to do" list for the future. Since we love VWL/WL so much, I would imagine Big Cedar would be a natural for us...

That sounds wonderful to me too! Branson at Christmastime is on our "to do" list too, and this sounds like a great way to go. Thank you for the report.

MG and Bobbi - I'm sure you'll love Big Cedar. One of the new things since our last visit are what they call "Baffle Box Feather Beds" on all the beds, and down duvets. They are truly "heavenly"! You sink in and don't want to come out. I rarely fall asleep quickly in a resort bed, but I sure did this time.

Our son and daughter-in-law slept in the loft and said it was great to fall asleep wrapped in down while listening to the fire crackle below them.

The kitchens in the cabins are handy, even if you don't cook. The resort supplies (free) a bunch of goodies - coffee, tea, cocoa and a nice basket with cider mix, cookies, popcorn, peach butter and a few other things. And we had a nice big table for dining on room service. The fridge comes stocked with an assortment of complimentary soft drinks and water.

The "car wash shower" is a hoot, too. Plus, there's a Jacuzzi. The toiletries are from the Spa and first rate.

One of the wonderful things about Big Cedar is the all-out theme-ing. Like lots of gorgeous stained glass windows. There were five in our cabin. Pictures don't do them justice. Oh, and a bay window wall with a door in the middle that opens onto the deck overlooking the lake.

BTW, our room service breakfasts were very reasonably priced. $42 w/ tax and gratuity for the four of us - not much different than we would have spent at the restaurant. (We've spent twice that for room service full breakfasts at DW.) It was excellent and the portions were huge. My husband's ham and cheese omelet filled the plate. They include lots of nice little extras like cinnamon, brown sugar, lots of extra Vermont syrup for French toast and more (real) butter than we'd use in a month. And enormous glasses of juice. I had two scrambled eggs that seemed more like four. I ordered sausage with my eggs and got three of the biggest sausage links I've ever seen. The whole thing was yummy. A great way to start the day! We didn't need lunch. And all this while eating in our PJ's in front of our cozy fire and gazing out over the lake. :flower:

The service, as always, was top notch. We go almost every year at this time and have never had a bad stay.

As you can probably tell, we really enjoy this resort.
