Just back From BC concierge, loved the hotel, but was disapointed with concierge lounge.....but still had a wonderful time. Happy to answer any questions.

Why were you disappointed with the conceirge?

Hi Contemp-girl :)

I have loads of questions... thanx in advance

Did someone have to meet you in the lobby to take you up or did they send you a card with access to the floor ahead of time?

How was your room/view?

How was the pool - did you have any trouble getting a chair?

How was the concierge staff - did they help you with anything, PS's etc...?

Did you enjoy breakfast, and the other offerings?

Were the rennovations complete.?. did you see anything going on - I heard the quiet pool was closed recently.

Thanx for all your help - hope you had a great time at the parks

I probably shouldnt had said the concierge itself........The staff was wonderful, and very helpful with everything! My problem more or less lies with the way the people on the concierge floor behaved. Don't get me wrong, there were some very nice people there. But at the same time, some of the adults were very rude when it came to eating in the lounge, and the majority of people just let there small children and older children throw popcorn, run around in wet bathing suits barefooted, and scream at the top of there lungs. I had children reaching over me, to get at food........with there bare hands, if the parents were there, and I say if..........(it was more like a nanny floor!!) They rarley said a word to their kids. Even had an adult man throw his toasted bagel down on my daughters plate, and continued to help himself to more food. My husband finally had to get up and tell the man that he had the wrong plate. Not even an apology from him!!! We saved for a long time to stay concierge. Couldnt believe the people that just took all of this for granted, the rudeness of the. When they came in to eat it was like a pack of wolves. One other little small thing, (but big to the kids. my daughter is 11 and son 14) Was that they never arranged the stuffed animals in any silly or fun way when they cleaned the rooms, or at turn down service........which we were forgotten once or twice. Not even a washcloth animal.........the kids were disapointed because 5 years ago we stayed on a regular floor at the Contemporary, and had little special things like that all the time. Here, nothing, and we paid extra!!!

Other than that, we enjoyed the resort alot!! Loved everything else about it!!!:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Hey!! Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner but I have been having alot of problems with my computer lately!! Hope my answers help you, as I had so much help from everyone on here with the planning of out trip, and it was wonderful!

First- We were sent a card before leaving to enter the concierge floor. When we got there, we imformed the bellman that we were checking in concierge, he took our bags to storage, because we arrived early, and told us where the elevators were, and that we should go on up and see about checking in. Which we did. No problems, it was about 11 or so in the morning, our room was not ready, so we checked out the resort, and strolled over to World Showcase and saw all of UK, and Canada. When we came back our room was ready, we were told just to call down to the bellman, and he would bring our luggage right up. Which he did.

2nd- Our room was 5711 and it was fabulous!! Beautiful inside and our view was perfect!! We could see the lagoon, the boardwalk, the pool, and the ship, to stromalongbay!

We didnt have any trouble getting a chair, it did get crowded once in a while, but most people were in the pool, and not in the chairs. I did find it to be very empty for the first 2 hours after it opened from 9am - 11am or so........it stayed open till 10pm. There were plenty of chairs all over the place, and even some on the beach!!

The concierge staff did a wonderful job helping us with our ps's. Everytime we had a reservation through them, we had the best table in the house it seemed! At one point my daughter lost her Jasmine beanie baby. It seemed the maid had mistakinly picked her up in the sheets. I talked to Josh about it in Concierge, he immediatly called housekeeping and said that if they did not find it that they would see about replacing it. (which I didnt expect!!) That night we came back from the parks Jasmine was sitting on the bed. Still dont' know if it was replaced or found!! Josh was wonderful, and it was greatly appreciated. My daughter wrote him a thankyou note that night!!

The breakfast was the best out of all the meals I thought, and the one we used most, since se were usally out during the day and early evening. There was toast, english muffins, bagles, creamcheese, cereal, danishes donughts, fresh fruit, muffins, assorted juices, coffee. Very nice. I did find it to be quite crowded and noisy sometimes though.

There were still renovations going on by the quiet pool, which is on the side closest to Epcot. We hardly even noticed it. Matter fact the only time I payed any attention to it was when we were across the lagoon on the Boardwalk and could see all the scaffolding. Our room was way over towards the Yacht club so it did not bother us at all. But the quiet pool is closed, for now.

Hope this helped a little! Again sorry to have taken so long to get back to you!!
Have a Magical Time!!!!!

Hi C-Girl,

You did a great job answering my questions - sorry I had so many!

Your Jasmine beanie baby story - so happy they found it (or replaced it) lol but at least you got it back.

My DD lost 2 lions at hoop dee doo and concierge had them back in our room before we got back from HDD!

So in reading over your posts - it seems that everything was great aside from the other concierge guests  too bad we were not staying at the same time - I swear I would not horde food or put half eaten bagels on your daughters plate :)

Unfortunately - problems like this occur in every concierge setting (from what I've read) from horders to shoelessness to jammies.

Beach Club sounds great can't wait to get there....

Thanx for all your info,

I wont even let my kids pick up their own food at buffets never mind concierge. Who wants to eat something that other peoples kids have touched:p We are a working class family and believe in teaching kids good manners wherever they are. In a concierge lounge, I would expect them to be on their best behaviour, and respect other people.

We are staying BC Concierge Lagoon View in August.Room 5711 sounds great-but did it have a full balcony or just the standing one? Last year we stayed at the Poly and DD-age 7 hopes she can see illuminations or some fireworks from the resort. She only let us stay away from her fav Poly for her big brother-17.

Also,I am worried that I made PS's by myself instead of the concierge.I made even the Cindy breakfast myself--my time was earlier--but now the posts make me think we will get better tables.service ect. if the concierge had made the PS's.I am such a worrier--

We are so excited about our trip---we were planning a 20 year anniversary trip for DH and just me but we just couldn't resist the Disney magic. We feel that the whole family has a great time-worth every penny. So the 4 of us will celebrate our "romantic"milestone together!!

I have a question about the weather! We've had sooo much rain here in NJ, and I've been hearing that Florida has too! How was the weather when you were there, and what were the dates of your trip? Thanks!!:teeth:

The room was great, and yes, we did have a full balcony, and sat out there every night, and had a nice drink, and some quiet time away from the kids. How wonderful your taking the kids for the anniversary. I would be the same way with Disney...............I wouldnt be able to resist taking the kids. My ex husaband and I have been divorced for 5 years, finally last year we had decided to try and work things out, he planned this trip with the kids, and the night we came home, he proposed to me with a little pearl ring he got from the BC pear factory!!! Neat ending to a perfect trip. Another thing to keep in mind, if your son doesnt mind staying in the room with your daughter for a while later in the evening. Or you could even have her stay in the Sandcastle Club for the kids. Go out on the beach at night with your husband, get a good drink from Martha's Vineyard, ( I highly recomend the Bahama Mama!! You only need one!!) and just sit back and enjoy the view. It's awsome, the boardwalk and the dolphin and swan at night. You can alot of the fireworks from the Beach from Epcot, at 9pm, and from pleasure Island at 10pm. Another good spot to see them is the bridge right there going over to the boardwalk, it's right over the water, and so pretty!!

And don't worry about the ps you made for the castle. We were there 6 years ago, and did not stay concierge, I also made all the reservations myself, and our table was fine!! It wasnt by a window mind you, but with your daughter just staring at all the princesses............it doesnt even matter!!! Trust me.

I worried to death about our trip, and went back and fourth from resorts, and dates, and ps's...........just trust, that Disney will make it the best trip ever, it worked for us!

Have a fabulous time!!!

Thanks you guys, glad to hear that you feel the same way about manners........I know alot of people do, I guess the majority of them just werent there the week we were!! I think people who work hard for there money, and especially cherish a vacation like Disney, especially Concierge, just have more of a appretation for it. Best of luck with everything!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm originally from Pennington, NJ, and my brother was just telling me that he has grown webbed feet, and has mushrooms growing from under his arms!! He said the rain has just been horendous up there!!

We were there from the 13th through the 20th, and the last two days it rained, one day, you could manage with a poncho, no thunder or lightning, but the last day it was storming. But by the time we pulled out of Disney, the sun was starting to break through. Hope you have beautiful days when you are there!!! Have lots of fun!!

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

so sorry to hear about the lack of manners of the conciere guests the while you were at the BC!
whenever I stay at YC cocnierge, I see the occassional bad manners adn screaming kids running around, but very infrequently.
I can imagine being quite disturbed if I had kids reaching over me with their hands...
what a shame!

I am glad to hear you had a great experience with the concierge staff! I think they are the greatest bunch of people over at the Y&B concierge! :)

25 days til WDW !!! Yacht Club concierge!!! :)

Laura :)

Thanks for posting all the wonderful info on the BC conceirge. We will be staying there in Nov the 9th to the 16th. I am so looking forward to it. I hope we run into guest with a little more manners than you encountered. I wish people would realize that their bad manners and rudeness effects other people. I have three DS and we always stressed manners. No excuse for bad manners.

Contemp-girl just a few questions if I could. Was the breakfast time or nite snack time crowded. Did they have soda and water avail or was it inconvenient to get and did you ever get some to take to the parks?

Paula

Contemporary girl---thanks for all the info--We really want a spot to sit at night for a drink like you did--but not necessarily leave the kids-so the full balcony is key.:D

Congrats to you and your husband.Sounds like you had a magical trip!!Lots of my friends and family don't get why we are going to Disney and taking the kids for OUR anniversary trip but we love watching the kids enjoy all the magic.Someday they will both be too busy to travel with old Mom and Dad and then we can do the romance trip.

Just a quick question--did you bring floats for the pool--or can you get them there???O.K. maybe one more--how was the transportation to MK?Did you walk to MGM?

It is so great to talk to someone who has just been at the BC.We can't wait but we also don't want to wish away the summer. If only it would stop raining here.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

princess angel-- have a wonderful time!!! If you would let me know how you make out with Concierge at YC!! I know how excited you all must be!! I'm so jealous!!!

sparp 5---We found that the breakfast in concierge was much more crowded. When I spoke to one of the staff about it, she had said that everyone is in such a rush to get to the parks, that they just jam in there. I would suggest going, when in first opens at 7am or right before closing around 10am........we sometimes would go in about 15 minutes before closing, not once did they ever kick us out, but just shut the doors, and told us to take our time. They were always very nice. Remember you can also take food back to your room. We just didnt have to many places to eat in there, and I just don't like eating on the bed. Had some problems with ants in the begining of our stay, most likely because alot of people do take food back to the rooms. With how crowded it can get I don't blame though. They will not have any type of soda out, but you just ask, and they will give it right to you. We brought our own bottled water, but I did see someone ask for some, and all they had was the very large glass bottles.........Not park friendly!!! I reccomend bringing your own bottled water. We brought a cooler in the room and just grabbed some before leaving for parks. You also can rent a refrigerator for 10 dollars a night. None of the diet cokes, or anything else we asked for was ever inconvieant, even saw someone ask for yogourt, which I never saw out once. Concierge was always very ready to help!!

ali cat-- I agree with you a hundred percent about the kids!! They only with with us for a little while before,............well, before they just don't want to be with us!!!! Glad they are going!! We did not bring our own floats, I did see some people did bring them though. You can rent floats or tubes for 3$ and hour!!! I thought that was a little much!! But it is there if you want it! I have to admit, I did miss taking the monorail to MK...........the busses were ok and did the job, but sometimes we had to stand for the ride home. They usually stop on the way back from MK, at Swan then Dolphin, then YC.............THEN BC!!! Like I said, it did the job, but sometimes seemed a little long. You might think about taking your own car to the MK, you might get there easier and quicker, I had read some people doing that on the boards. But the way I look at it, once get your car, drive over to the MK, then take a tram to the entrance of MK, you might as well just jumped on the bus. I guess it's what's ever best for you. We did take the buses.........and we're still here and smiling. I heard you could walk to MGM.......I think it's about a 15 to 20 minute walk or so. We always took the boat...........relaxing, plus you walk so much as it is..................plus the heat!!!

Hope the sun shines for you soon!! Your trip will be here before you know it!! Enjoy the aticipation, It's so much fun looking forward to it, and planning!! Let me know if I can help with anything else!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Contemp-girl:

Thank you for answering my question the info was very helpful and congrats to you and your ex how romantic. Disney is just so magical. We are busy planning our next trip for 2004 my DH and I will both turn 40 and it will be our 20th wedding anniversary. I can't believe we've been married twenty years (almost). We have always joked that we were the only ones at our wedding not old enough to drink. I wish you and your ex many more happy years to come and many more wonderful disney vacations. Do I feel a disney honeymoon coming????

Paula

C-Girl,

I thought it was interesting that you said they closed the doors - at AKL you could always come in the lounge and get drinks - even in between food services - what if someone only wanted a drink?

THanx

>>^..^<<

Congrats on the 20th! Time flies, we would have been about there ourselves, if we didnt take the "leave of abscence" like we did!! Unfortantly no Disney Honeymoon, Although what a dream that would be!! Last week at the BC just about broke us! It will probably be another two years before we get back! Thanks for the thoughts though!:p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

Your kidding? You mean you had full service at AKL all the time?!! At the Beach Club they gave you the hours on a little card when we checked in. Breakfast from 7-10:30 Snack from like 2-3:30 (i think) appetizers from 5-7 and desserts and cordials from 8-10pm. That was it. If you wanted a drink, I guess you just had to wait, or grab a few extras before they closed until next time. I just figured all concierge was like that! Wish I would have known!! What a big diffrence that would have made, because there were plenty of times that we missed most everything from running in the parks so much! Sometimes we tried to make a point to get back and a certain time just so we knew we were taking advantage of the concierge that we paid for. I really didnt care for having to think about what time we needed to get back, so we could use it. A lady I was talking to who stayed at all the resorts, said that she thought AKL was just fabulous. Thanks for the tip. And again have a wonderful time!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
