Just got back this afternoon from a 2 night stay. I was supposed to stay through tomorrow so you might be able to see where this report is headed.

First off, I can not say enough about the staff at ASMusic. From the girl who checked me in to the cashier in the food court, they were all wonderful!

I got to the resort at about 12:30 Sunday afternoon. There was no line at check in, which is always nice. Like I said, the girl at check in was great. I had put a request in for 3rd floor, because I was travelling alone and I felt safer that way. Well she gets out the map, and trust me, I know what's coming. I am always in the farthest possible room. Never fails, and usually I don't care.

Well, you guessed it. I was in Country Inn, all the way at the back. I wasn't going to say anything but I asked if there was anything closer. She was great and found me something in Jazz Inn, which is so much closer to the main builiding. This room was on the second floor, which was fine by me.

The whole check in process was quick and pleasant. I drove around to Jazz Inn 9, walked upstairs, and found my room. The room was very clean, no dust, nothing on the floor, bathroom was immaculate.

I headed out to EPCOT and the bus came within 5 minutes. Had a pleasant day and came back to the room exhausted. Took a shower and got into bed, ready to pass out. Well this is where the problems started. I couldn't get any sleep because I could hear EVERYTHING!!! The people outside the room, the people in the room next door. I think in the middle of the night they were doing something outside, cause I could hear vans starting up and stopping and maintenance men on their walkie talkies.

Very early in the morning, I could hear all the other guests talking outside the room and my neighbors phone ringing. I have to think that they walls are paper thin.

I decided to give it another shot last night but I also wasn't able to get any sleep. I was tired when I woke up this morning and decided to check out early. I thought about going to Magic Kingdom but I was afraid I'd be too tired to drive home so I headed right out. I made it home in good time and took a very long nap.

This was not my first stay at the value resorts. I stayed at POP in May and I think it was quieter there, to be honest. I have previously stayed at the various All Stars about 6 times, but I don't think I'll be back.

Just wanted to share my experience.

I have heard neighbor's phones, and conversations outside the room, but never anything that I would consider overly distracting. I do agree that all the staff are quite plesent though. I have stayed at both the AS Sports and the AS Music, and even when there was a cheerleading competition (with the bulk of them staying at Sports) I didnt think it was bad.

One year we stayed at ASMu (and it was our second stay there).
We were there for the January marathon. The cheerleaders were there too.
We were in the Rock Inn building, off to the right if looking straight out the back of the main building.
We did not realize until that stay that back in that area is where the buses for the three resorts go in and out (constantly). Between that and cheerleaders doing what cheerleaders do best ( :cheer2: even in the EARLY morning hours) and the various noisy buses (not just Disney buses) we did not get much sleep that first night.
I think after that first night we were too tired to hear anything. :rotfl2:
Agree, if you are not rested up, the parks can be very taxing.
We have stayed at values. And I would do so again. But....

I'm a bit nervous now after reading this report. I did some looking already last night and found that renting a villa offsite is much less expensive, even with tickets. We can't cancel our flight though, we'd lose about $600 or so dollars if we do, so we wouldn't be staying for the 7 nights to get the free rental car (w/ all star rental homes), we're only staying 6 nights. I think it'd still be cheaper even w/ a rental car. But I'm torn, I don't know!

We stayed at ASMusic this weekend too. I agree the walls were paper thin and we could hear all kinds of noise. I didn't find it to be any noisier than POP.

I am very sorry your stay All Star Music was too noisy for you.

Maybe there was some kind of maintenance problem that added to the outside noise.
How unfortunate for you.

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

Most noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests have found that a fan or a white noise machine helps them sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

I will definitely be taking the earplugs and the white noise machine!

I have stayed at Music twice and I agree, there is noise but nothing, just nothing prepared me for Pop last year. Whereas I found the noise level at Music totally bearable, the noise at Pop was AWFUL!
Im so sorry you had to leave early. There is nothing worse than being sleep deprived.

We stay at All Star Music and my DH who is a builder remarked about how quiet the rooms are at All Star Music. We never our heard our neighbors and I only heard a toilet flush (softly) once when I was awake during the night.

I had read that the ventilation system at Pop is set up different than the system at the All Star resorts.
Apparently 6 rooms at Pop all share the same ventilation system.
That is why Pop had a lot of problems with guests smelling smoke when smokers would smoke in neighboring rooms.

I think the room noises are also traveling through the ventilation system at Pop.

So even though the walls may not be any thinner at Pop the rooms seem to be noisier there.

BTW:
Be sure to close your bathroom door at night to help muffle the noise.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the tips. I did have a connecting room and I didn't even think about the towel.

I also debated about the fan but I stupidly decided not to bring it. Next time I go, I definitely will bring it.

I did have a room at the back of the building, facing the courtyard/parking lot and I don't think I would want one on the other side, facing the pool.

Being a student, it's either the values or don't go for me, so I am going to try these tips next time I go.

I should have made it clear that we heard some noise at AS Music but it was minimal. In fact it is our favorite value. We were amongst the 'unfortunates' at Pop. The noise was really bad and smoke poured through the wents. It was miserable for the whole 10 nights.
