Just back from AKL

Just back from AKL - it's a great place!! We love staying there.
The magic at this WDW resort is the best. The food is great and the smells are heavenly. We also saw a new Ankole Cow calf born on the Uzima Savannah this past Tuesday. Each morning and evening we would go on our balconies and watch the animals. One word of caution for those going to Orlando - we did all the WDW parks- but decided to go to Seaworld and Busch Gardens as well. There is no comparison. We were very dissapointed in both. Lots of shows and attractions were closed, the ride lines were much longer than stated at the entrance and the management didn't seem concerned. Parking was confusing, shuttles were slow. Also prices for food and drinks were astronomical - $2.50 for a bottle of water. ) Disney charges $1.25) The service was poor - most employees were not paying attention to what they were doing - we got a barbecue plate that was mostly fat. So don't waste your money going there. Stick with Disney - their quality and service is way above these other two parks.
Also went to Busch's Discovery Cove. The park was lovely, swimming with Dolphins was OK -seem to push you along. The food was lousy. For the amount we spent- the food should have been great - but again nothing was very good, not even the desserts!

So all this said - stick with Disney - they are Number 1.

Great that you had a good time...Did you like the Uzima Savanahh? Everyone seems to prefer the Arusha Savanahh.

But, I have to say, I think Disney charges over $2.00 for their bottled water...At least they did when we were there. That's why we bought our own from a store.

You' re right about the water - the large bottle at Animal Kingdom was around 2.25, but there was a small bottle that was cheaper - 1.50. Still overall, I felt that Seaworld was more expensive for what you got. Believe me I think Disney is expensive too! But at least you get quality for the high price. Another example - Dove Bars at Seaworld - $4.00. Mickey Bars - $2.50

I did prefer the Arusha savannah, it is quieter than the Uzima. The Uzima savannah has some neat animals but it faces a road in the distance. You cannot see the traffic but you can hear it. But nevertheless, we had gotten a complimentary upgrade from a standard parking lot view - so we enjoyed Uzima.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip and the lodge! We have eaten there ( LOVED JIKO) but never stayed there and we are really excited. I have to say, I do agree with you about other resorts. We went to Universal (only because we had free passes...and thank GOD we didn't pay to get in) and we were so disappointed! Just not "Magical" at all. Disney definitely has it going on!
