We just got back from our flight this afternoon. Stayed at AKL for 8 nights and it was wonderful! I didn't feel the rooms or lobby were too dark...just about right. Had a great view on the Zebra trail (requested this trail on 3rd floor), room 3517. There were ants in the sink...don't know if this is common or not. There were plenty of activities for the kids and the swimming was great. There is a guy who does character sketches of yourself from 6 to 11 at night. ($15 to $30 I think). We truly enjoyed our stay. Oh, one funny thing.....I called down to the front desk to see if there was internet access. The lady told me no, so we rode the bus to MGM to use the internet. The next day I find out that the Lodge does have the internet...it is in the lobby with the phones and ATM machine. I couldn't believe it!! If you have any questions, please ask.

JodiR, welcome home! I am so jealous that you just returned from my favorite resort. I happened to have caught the AKL on two different Travel Channel segments the other day and it made me very homesick for that resort. I hope you'll have photos to post of your stay, as I would love to view them (and my fellow Dis'ers would, too, I am sure ;) ).

Did you get to dine at Jiko or Boma? Was there one particular thing you enjoyed at the AKL over any other?

By the way, I'm sorry you were not told the following (taken directly from the official WDW website):

We ate dinner at Boma....but I did not like it, it just wasn't for me. We also had breakfast at Boma which I enjoyed. This was our first trip to Disney so I have had no other experience with other resorts. I did go to the Grand Floridian when my dd had her tea party but it didn't feel "like home" (like AKL did). My dd's enjoyed the activities...there was always something going on. The giftshop was great!

Well, for your first trip to WDW, you sure went in style! I haven't done breakfast at Boma (my first meal of the day is lunch); however, I have dined there for dinner a few times and have always enjoyed it (Jiko, too). As to the GF, that is my husband's favorite resort, but I understand what you mean about the different feeling between the GF and the AKL (the AKL feels very inviting to me personally ;) ). I'm glad you had a nice stay.
