I am back after 9 amazing days at WDW!! We stayed at AKL for 4 nights and WL for 4 nights. I had never stayed at either resort so I started with a blank slate!
AKL- 4 days before leaving I faxed in a room request. I stated that this was a Graduation trip for my boyfriend and all I wanted to try to request was a room that was not on the ground floor. I had a standard and had heard negative things about std rooms being so close to the bus stop. We got to check in and were told that we were given a complimentary upgrade to savannah view, we were estatic! We were on the second floor on Zebra trail and at first we didn't think the view would be too great b/c we were in a corner room right next to Arusha Rock but we were very pleasantly surprised to find out that the view was wonderful and the animals came as close as they were allowed, to our room. My brother had a fifth floor room which was great b/c they could see all of the savannah but I think I liked our room better, even though we weren't up high, the animals were so close.
I can not say enough amazing things about this resort, it had everything. The restaurants, the pool, the service, the decor and the all around feeling was just unbelievable. I honestly can't say enough good things about this resort.
WL- Maybe we were really spoiled from AKL but we got to WL and felt just a tiny bit let down. Don't get me wrong, WL is a beautiful resort, but it wasn't AKL. I wonder if I had stayed at WL first if my reaction would have been different but it just wasn't the same. We had booked a woods view room and we got to our room we had a great view of....a roof! There were no woods in sight, just a big old roof. Now this was really a let down after looking at animals from my balcony but I figured I got what I paid for. I went to the front desk to ask a question about my bill and asked if they by any chance they had any other wood views that were not a roof and they quickly gave us a new room on the fifth floor on the end. We were able to see the pool, the geyser and the lake all from our balcony. The only problem was that there were tons of spiders, spider webs and spider eggs on the balcony, I know this is to be expected of a resort in the woods but it made it hard to sit on the balcony and not worry about getting attacked by the spiders! We did call the front desk and maintenence to see if they had any bug killer so that we could take care of it but after calling twice and no one coming up we just gave up and didn't sit on the balcony. The room seemed a little smaller than AKL but seemed pretty much the same. The bike and boat rentals were a great added feature as was the boat ride to the MK, very relaxing.
I have so much more to say but I feel this is long enough so any questions at all please feel free to ask, I would love to help in any way!!
