Yep, you read right, I just got back from AKL concierge and on the last two days of our trip there were two types of fresh, hot, oatmeal in the morning. Regular and cinnamon, the latter of which was very tasty.

So, any questions?

Nope no questions just the comment:

I love oatmeal in the morning!!!

Hi,

We are staying 8 nights in Jan 2006 at the AKL. Our last two nights will be concierge because we want to do the Sunrise and Sunset Safaris. Did you do either? If so, what did you think? Did you feel concierge was worth the money?

Did you love it?
Where was your room?
Were the CMs in the Lounge friendly and helpful?
Do you remember what the food offerings were?
I'll be there for the 3d time for 1 week in late July - can't wait

Hulkcoaster - Oatmeal is back - YEEESSSSS!!!! :cool1: Thank you for that good news. What did you think of the service while you were there? Did any CM's in the lounge stick out at you? Did you see the new river hogs while you were there? I'm curious about their location.

TMM - I did Sunset safari and loved the overall experience. I felt it was totally worth it. I have some pictures while on sunset safari (you'll have to weed through the rest to get to it) to give you an idea of what it was like. Sunset takes place at the AKL while Sunrise takes place at AK. Sunset is limited to 8 guests total in your private pop-up safari van. You'll have a tour guide going into specifics on the animals and you'll have a ton of photo opportunities. You'll have an authentic sundowner followed by dinner at Jiko's at the conclusion the "safari." I thought it was well worth the $150 pp I spent. Sunrise is a larger group (25+ people?) at AK with breakfast at Tusker House. I'm sure there are many photo opportunities on this safari as well. At least much more than when you ride Kilamajaro Safari during typical operation. I also hear that the breakfast at Tusker House is very tasty. Overall, the sunrise safari is highly praised by those who have done it. I am doing sunrise safari in July myself.

Hi Kim,

No question is ever dumb!!! How else do we learn?? :flower: Do a search on Concierge and there are some great threads that offer detailed info on each resort that offers this service. It is at the Deluxe resorts.

Concierge for WDW resorts basically refers to guests that spend approximately $100+ PER night over the highest priced regular room. You generally (I wrote that because the Grand Californian in Disneyland did NOT have a private floor) have your own private floor.

The Concierge Castmembers can assist you in making dining arrangements etc.

You have a private lounge that ranges in offerings of beverages and light snacks to some incredible tastes and desserts and even alcohol. That can vary.

Sheratons, Marriotts, etc., can even have Concierge level.

Some try to price it out to see if it's worth it. I would never use it as a dining plan. It is just a nice supplement but a supplement that costs $$$$. Some find it a waste of $$$$ and would prefer buying their own drinks and snacks. To each their own.

I have NEVER only fed my family on the food offerings in any concierge level lounge but some do. To each their own.

Some hotels (not WDW) have a concierge staff (WDW calls it Guest Services) in the lobby that everyone at that hotel uses for info and arrangements for dining, etc., although that can vary from hotel to hotel too.

Here is one definition <<<<Main Entry: con·cierge
Pronunciation: kOn-'syerzh
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural con·cierges /-'syerzh, -'syer-zh&z/
Etymology: French, from Old French, prob from (assumed) Vulgar Latin conservius, alteration of Latin conservus fellow slave, from com- + servus slave
Date: circa 1697
1 : a resident in an apartment building especially in France who serves as doorkeeper, landlord's representative, and janitor
2 : a usually multilingual hotel staff member who handles luggage and mail, makes reservations, and arranges tours >>>

Sorry about being late with this but here it goes:

We were in 5413, which was next to the vice presidential; suite on Ashura. It was nice because of the thatched roof over the balcony, but we would have preferred something farther away from Ashura rock.

The lounge was great, and the food was good too. Breakfast had oatmeal, cereals, pastries, fruit, and yogurt.

The afternoon snack we only got once, since we were usually in the parks all day, but it was basic pretzels and cinnamon chips. Probably sparse since no one is there during the day.

Evening offerings were lots of skewers and this good African salad/slaw. Desert was a little sparse.

The winner of the food was definitely the African Smooth. Very addicting.

Didn't catch the river hogs.

The sunrise safari was amazing. We had Heather as our guide and she was very good, as well as easy on the eyes (don't tell my wife that :rolleyes1 ). The Breakfast after was good too. After we used the FP they give you to go on the safari again we realized we are now spoiled. That's how good the sunrise safari is.
