We were not upgraded from a standard room (AP rate) and had an excellent view of the parking lot.

Also, we were suprised to find out we were also in a wing of cheerleaders. Hmmm... didn't know they stayed at AKL. Unfortunately (?) they did nothing to complain about ;) so we couldn't honestly complain.

Otherwise, BOMA was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. The lodge is in excellent condition, the room, #4129 was clean. No towel animals, but was cleaned by mid morning each day.

For our trip in November I am reserving a Pool View room. No more parking lots for me, lol. Of course, this trip it didn't matter as we were kidless and not in the room much. Next trip the kids will be along!

Just an FYI.

Cheerleaders can and haved stayed at almost all Disney resorts. It really depends on what the parents are willing to pay for. While many do stay at the All Star, I have seen groups at all Disney resorts including the deluxe resorts.

Many parents make this trip their vacation.

We also just returned and we had a towel elephant one day. Savannah view AP rate.....beautiful! We highly recommend the Backstage Safari....it far exceeded our expectations and AP rate is currently 30% off instead of 15%.

What is this Backstage Safari of which you speak? It sounds like fun! I didn't see any info when we visited in mid January.

So glad you liked the AKL. It is my family's favorite resort. We weren't upgraded from standard view either but our rooms were on the third floor in ostrich trail and we didn't see any parked cars because the folage was very thick outside our balconies. We're booking pool view next trip also because the pool area looked so beautiful after dark. Welcome back!

Go behind the scenes at Animal Kingdom!

Find out what happens behind-the-scenes at Animal Kingdom. You'll get an insider's look at the innovative ways that we are meeting challenges in areas such as conservation, animal nutrition and medicine, animal care and behavioral studies. Highlights include visits to: backstage animal housing areas to meet some of our keepers and learn how we care for our animals on a daily basis; the Animal Nutrition Center, where all of our animal's diets are prepared; our state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital and Animal Programs Administration to learn how we are constantly seeking new ways to ensure our animal's health and well being. This program takes place entirely behind the scenes.

Sorry no upgrade...that's why at AKL I always book a Savannah View...I just love the animals right outside the room.
