Well it was quite a honeymoon!!!! But this is not a trip report, it is a resort comparison from our point of view. To preface this my dh and I had previously only been to ASMOand ASM and enjoyed both equally, enjoying the themeing, food courts and friendly service. The AKL was amazing!!! The building was awesome to look at, the grounds were beautiful, well kept and african themed. The room was good sized, with handsome carved wooden furniture, the bathroom had two sinks and a large tub/shower. We had our towels shaped into a bride, an elephant, and a small purse. Everything was clean and in good repair. The rooms were quiet and had an awesome view of the animals. The food court, Mara was smaller than at the All Stars but had an interesting African stew and good breakfasts. The pool was very pretty and large with a fun water slide. What made our time at the AKL special was the niceness of the cast members. They were helpful with reservations, we checked in quickly, knowledgeable of the animals and always had a smile. The buses to the parks were frequent. We never waited more than 10 minutes. Maybe we were lucky!! We spent 4 nights there and then moved on to the CR. Our bags were moved easily with the bell people taking our bags at the AKL. We went over early, around 9:00 to do an early check in then head to the parks. The cast member at registration was curt and unfriendly. She seemed to just want to get our paper work over with without any of the friendly conversation we had been used to with disney employees. We just figuered she was having a bad morning and went on our way knowing our room should be ready at 3:00pm. We arrived back at the CR at 3:30 and our room was not ready. We waited for about 10 minutes while it got straightened out. When we got to our Lagoon View room on the 9th floor we were impressed with is size and the amazing view of the pool, lake, boats and sky line that included EPCOT and Down Town Disney. The room was dated and a little worn but still a nice place to be. The pool was Ok, with a lot of mold growing around the edges. The grounds were attractive and well kept. What struck us was the seeming unfriendliness of the cast members, from bar tenders, to desk people, to bell hops. The place just seemed cold. The only plus to staying at the CR for us was the ease of transportation. We had chosen this hotel for the end of our trip so we could just meander over to the MK and not worry about busses. That was a treat, so wasnt the Electric Light Parade in the lagoon.
I f anyone has questions I will be glad to answer them. I will do a full honeymoon report on that board beacuse the treatment we got was amazing!!!!!
