We checked in on Jan 27 and out on Feb 2. We had a large group, but our immediate DDP was 3 adults. They were able to handle our receipts the way we wanted as to have the gratuity seperated. A few times they were confused why our key said 4 adults on DDP, but we wanted it seperated as 3 and one. After we explained that people wanted to do it that way, it was not a problem. I kept track of all the costs and after it was all done, we saved about $190 using DDP between 3 adults. I have to say we missed the "all inclusive" feeling of having it all included, but we did not miss the appetizer as much as we thought we would....only in the beginning! LOL!
We were staying at BWV and had a hard time since they do not have a food court whereas we could use our QS credits. Our only QS choices there were the pizza window and the bakery, which only offered 2 sandwich choices for lunch or dinner.....but that is another story.
Here is where we ate and our opinion:
Table Service:
Boma for dinner- loved it as usual....yet it was much busier thyan we thought it would be. The food was good, particularly the Salmon and the upside down pineapple cheesecakes!
Beaches & Cream for lunch- great! We had the double cheeseburgers and they were HUGE! And we did each get big sundaes that we could share with the little ones.
Cape May Cafe for dinner- good buffet. DH said the clams and mussels all taste the same and were nothing special. We did however LOVE the Oreo Bon Bons!
Chef Mickeys for dinner- good buffet and GREAT character interaction. The desserts here are just ok....
Le Cellier for dinner- very good as usual, however it was SOOOO busy at 4pm! The server was so nice since our kids were so moody and loud....and we were happy they allowed us to get smoothies as our drink on the DDP!!!! Desserts were fabulous....go for the Chocolate Whiskey Cake or the Smores~
Kona Cafe for dinner- first time here for dinner and we wont go back. Server was slow and unattentive. 2 dinners had to be sent back for being prepared wrong. And my sons mac and cheese came out 20min after the adult meals! Good news was the manager comped the appetizer my aunt got, my FIL's drink and my sons mac& cheese meal for the trouble. Then our desserts took 30min to come out...go figure. It totally screwed up our night. Our ADR was for 5pm and we figured we would be done by 6:30...giving us abour an hour or so to go to MK on our last night, walk main street and see WISHES. We didnt get out of Kona until 7:20pm....made me mad!
Won't go back.
Quick Service:
Cosmic Rays for lunch at MK- awesome as usual. We really like this place. It is quick even when busy and the burgers always taste good. Plus, I love the little chocolate cakes.
Electric Umbrella for lunch at EPCOT- this was good. Just basic stuff, but good choices for kids.
Studio Catering for lunch at HS - Really good greek salad! DH had the wrap and loved it too.
Sunshine Seasons for dinner at EPCOT- always a good choice. Great variety and you can still get the HUGE desserts from the bakery section. Great value on DDP! Only complaint is that you cannot bring a stroller in and that is hard with two kids 2yrs and under!
Liberty Inn America for dinner at Epcot- good burger and not busy at all. Good choice for basic stuff and the service was quick.
Yak & Yeti for lunch at AK - awesome! First time here and a great value. You get a lot of food. I had the Crispy HOney Chicken and it was good, DH had the Kung Pao Beef and really liked it. We plan to visit their TS restaurant next time. Oh, and the mango pie was GREAT!!!!
Artists Pallate at SSR for Dinner- late night choice for us and thank goodness we had a car to get there since the BW offers little in QS. We had flatbreads that were great and the cast member there was so helpful with the dining plan options. We were able to get a lot of different things for dessert and we could get Vitamin Water as our drink....hadnt seen that anywhere else.
Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast- Okay choice, best part was that one QS credit got you a pastry, piece of fruit and TWO drinks....with three QS credits, we came out with 2 cokes, 2 chocolate milks and 2 OJ's, one egg bacon panini, 2 cinnamon rolls, 2 bananas and one orange!!!! It was great to have those options...too bad we found out on the last day
Snack credits- we used them alot, but never for bottled water or soda....seems a waste of Snack credits to us. So we paid OOP if we wanted that....We got pretzels with cream cheese at MK (YUM!), root beer floats at AK, bakery items at BW, and a lot of those yummy rice krispie treats shaped like Mickey!
Well, there it is. The DDP still saved us money and doing tip was no biggie....but I still wish it was all inclusive again! From what Cast Members told us, it was this drastic change or no DDP at all.....We are most mad at the snack change....they say it is for single serving now....but MANY things we got on snack credit were multiple servings if you read the label...bottles of Coke are actually 2 servings. So the rationale is bull, in our opinion. They should have done it as a snack is ANYTHING under $4. That would be so much easier.....And a lot of the "disney" snack foods that are in family size marked bags don't come in the individual bags, so you cant get them at all....and the ones that do are like 99cents or something....so why waste a DDP credit. Our only confusion came with snacks and it made DH so mad he said he might never want to do the plan again....too confusing. He says DDP is supposed to make your vacation simple and convenient and the change in snack credits defeats that purpose.
Any questions????? Fire away!!!
