We just got back from spending 2 days in the car on the way down, 6 nights at AKL, 3 nights at RPR and 2 days in the car on the way back! I need a vacation from my vacation. AKL was amazing. Everything we hoped for and more. My DH said we could just live there. We had dinner at BOMA for my DS's bd and they brought him a little Mickey cake. We then went to the storytelling around the firepit, where our storyteller had everyone sing Happy Birthday to him. He got a card and a Magical Moments Certificate from the front desk. Got to ride in the front of the monorail to MK. Lots of Happy Birthdays from CM's because we got him the BD pin from guest services. The biggest piece of magic came as we were waiting for the afternoon parade to make its way to Main St. USA where we were sitting. The streets were packed with people and a CM came by and noticed the BD pin. She took my DS out into the middle of Main St. and annouced to the crowd that it was Jarod's bd and had everyone sing Happy Birthday to him! It was so magical.
The weather was so warm and it seemed a bit silly, coming from WI, to be walking around in shorts with all the Christmas decorations up. We had little to no waits on anything except Test Track, which we got a Fastpass for anyway. After all the tips on this board, I already had knocked about $1,800 off my original budget, but after the trip was over and we calculated all the expenses: hotels, gas, food, lots of souveniers, etc. we came in another $700.00 lower than budget! You gotta love the DIS! We would never have known about the outlet stores, room codes, entertainment discount for RPR, discounted park passes, etc. without you guys. My DH bought me the 4 park wooden cover scrapbook and scrapbook pages from DTD for my Christmas present so I can preserve all the wonderful memories of my DS meeting just about every character that he could possibly meet. My DS kissed Minnie when he met her, then went over to Mickey and said, "I just kissed your girlfriend!" It was so cute, Mickey covered his eyes, shook his finger at my son and then put his hands on his hips like he was mad at him. My son couldn't stop laughing.
This was a trip we will all not forget!
