That's right- I was quite disappointed about Universal Studios. I was really expecting better than it was. There really isn't that much there to do. I mean okay some things were great-
1) there were 0 lines. I am talking we walked into every ride with less than a 5 minute wait on about everything. The longest we waited was 25 minutes and that was on ET and it was ONLY becasue they were having "technical difficulties beyond their control" so the line stopped for a few minutes. Disney just beats this place. Yes, I know- i should like different parks for different reasons, but I just can't think of a few reasons to go back here. I was disappointed about both parks in the aspect of every ride you went on you were lead to the "place you weren't supposed to go" meaning every ride or show it SEEMED like anyway that oopps we let you in where we weren't supposed to. It got old.
It was neat at Universal that Creed was there filming their next music video coming out in November. Mtv was there filming a "behind the scenes" so it was neat standing there watching big wigs walking around there around the "hot set" as they called it. We seen the lead singer for Creed, that was neat. The set they were working in was cool. Looked like the streets there in that "town looking place" was flooded. I don't know what to call this area, becasue we weren't allowed in it, as I said- it was blocked off for the video.
Anyway, we all liked IOA. I think this park was great. I really debated on taking my twin girls- 9 yo there becasue someone had posted that 10 and under may not have a great time, but my twins really enjoyed it. I think they too liked it better than USF. They went on a lot more than I thought they would. They don't like roller coasters, but they went on that Flying Unicorn, and that is all they have talked about since we've been home is how cool that ride was. The different themed places were neat- kinda like Disney World is- I mean MK- where you have different themed areas. The Suess land was neat. What is nice about thei park is the way it is set up - you have kinda a more adult area, then kid area, then adult area, and so on. Oh man, Spider man ride-- wow!! Was I impressed !!! Man that is neat. Again, at this park-- 0 waits!!!! Okay - I lied - we got to the Dueling Dragons and it said on the sign 10 minutes.....well, I don't know who had the watch on (haha), but boy was someone screwed up when they were telling time here folks!! We waited for nearly 1 hour while my twins sat in the hot sun waiting for us to get off this ride!! Poor kids. :( The ride was neat, but worth an hour--- probably not - maybe it is just becasue all the other rides we basically could walk right on- with very minimal wait. We walked right on the Hulk. Neat ride!! The beginning of it was cool. I won't ruin it for those who haven't went on it yet.
Anyway, we may go back to IOA, but not USF- we will spend our money at Disney next time.
Thanks for letting me unload.

So from reading your report it seems the major gripe is the zero wait time....maybe if you had to wait longer then the rides would seem better ??

no-- the 0 wait is what the good thing about the whole trip was. If we'd of had to wait on top of how disappionted we were.... I'd be fuming!!! So again, thank GOODNESS WE DID NOT HAVE TO WAIT!!

it says " some things were great like 1) we had 0 wait.....I just went back and reread it-- it says that was good about it. :)

What do you mean that the ops led you into places you shouldn't go?

Okay- I need to clarify here. I did NOT like USF-- the park pretty much sucked- there wasn't that much to do there as I thought there would be alot to see and more rides to go on. I did not like the lay out of this park- it sucked - I mean it is a small park, and to pay 50 bucks per ticket and pay for my two kids to get in too, I don't feel it was worth the money, but LUCKILY Creed was there filming a music video so that kind of made up for the disappointment of the parking sucking. We were done walking through the entire park and were thinking if we missed anything by about 4:30. If the park was bigger, there may have been more to do at 4:30 instead of leaving due to boredom. I'll never go back there.
So I liked IOA park, but I did not like the way on Jurrassic park ride and a few others when you get on this ride then the ride takes you through a place that looks like locked gates and then the loud speaker says " oh no our tour has gotten off course" "what are we going to do?? Warn the people", etc. You just have to roll your eyes and still enjoy the ride when this happens- becasue as I said- it just seemed to get old. Maybe no one else has been on Jurrassic Prk Ride, but that is what it says on the ride when you ride it- it takes you into the building and "oh my gosh the dinosaurs are loose-look out!!" The girls on Jaws at USF did a bad job of acting like "oh my gosh Jaws is loose we are going to get bit by a shark" "eeeekkk"
It just seemed a lot of rides played this up like crazy- and not a very good job at it either.
I liked the layout of IOA much better than USF.
Any one else need me to clarify?? And the GOOD part of the trip was no waits. If I would have had to wait-- and with how disappointed with what I did see at USF, I would've been quite mad.
Bottom line here-- USF really let me down and I wish I hadn't spent my money going there. I don't have money to blow on vacations-- some of us have to save like crazy -and work 2 jobs to earn money to take a vacation- and when you are as disappointed with USF as I was-- you tend to not want to go back again and really want to check more out before you go on another vacation like this one was. Hope this clears the air.

So you didn't like the Wild West Stunt show ? What about the Beetle Juice Grave Yard Revue ? T-3D ? The Gorry Grusesome & Grotesque Horror Show ? Animal Actors Stage show ? ET ?

I can understand how you may not like the layout of the park(which I still don't get)...I hate going to Six Flags Over Georgia...that park is up hill in all directions..but I would never let someting so trival affect my vacation.

What I think the real problem maybe is that there were no waits...try to follow me here... Seems that your a really big Disney fan...nothing wrong with that..I'm leaving for Disney for a week long vacation myself. Disney has drilled into everyones head that we must wait to get or rides...30 min - 1 hour - 2 hours....heck its worth it right....I think that if there were some waits and it took you longer to get through the park then you might (might ..doubt) that you would have a different opnion.

You may have heard it before..but it needs repeating....Universal is not Disney...maybe Universal needs a few spinners and longer lines like Disney has to apeasie the zombie crowd that has come to think that long waits means that it must be a great ride.

Hope you see what I'm driving at here.

I just got back from a three day stay at the hard rock hotel. During that time we visited HHN and IOA. I was also somewhat underwhelmed with the visit. I have visited US twice in the past and Disney several times. I was certain that I would prefer staying on site at Universal and really looked forward to the trip. Both parks were very nice. HHN was creative. While the no wait was great, I think the lack of attendance diminishes the general atmosphere of exitment and that may be what contributed to this let down feeling. I would also suggest to future visitors that you plan some extra activities into your day as you will finish the parks much sooner than in the past. We found ourselves facing the what should we do now? question on the first two days and the third day was completely open for us. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I just wish I had planned to incorporate more into the three/four days we were there.

Hard Rock was nice. Staff was responsive to requests, I did notice however, that I had to request items that should have been automatic in an upscale hotel. Loews reward, paper, etc.

I intend to return to Orlando in Feb and will probably stay at disney only because the transportation system allows for easier spur of the moment additions on the activity front. I agree that you are comparing apples to oranges on the theme park issue. On the where to stay ( especially with children) question I would have to side with a moderate or higher disney hotel. While the rooms are smaller, you simply have more options available to you in terms of activities, pools, and dining.

I agree, you really can't compare the two parks other than to say Universal is far better than Disney.....heeheehee...sorry. Anyway, my wife and I gave up on Disney after last year. The Magic Kingdom is great...once or twice in your life. My wife I saw plenty of parents with weary faces at Disney waiting in lines for what would amount to another no-thrills, little-pay-off ride. Yes, Disney has the Pirates and the Haunted Mansion (if only Universal could somehow steal those rides), but it also has Alien Encounters, a feeble attempt at joining the Universal-led race for ride perfection. Other than the aforementioned rides, nothing Disney has can compare to Spider-Man, T2, MIB, etc. Disney has sat on it's laurels and fallen behind. Sure, they have the name appeal (everyone wants to experience Disney at least once in their life, right?), but as far as we're concerned, we don't plan to go back...well, ever. Universal forever!

Another point, frankly I think Universal works harder to appease it's visitors. One case in point. If you're in Universal and stay for HHN, you actually get to stay in the park and enjoy the atmosphere. Disney kicks you out, makes you ferry or mono-rail out of the park and then wait in line to ferry back for Halloween activities. Maybe things have changed on that front, but we wouldn't know since we haven't been back.

Of course, this is just my opinion and everyone has one, right? For those folks who'd rather go to Disney, hope you have a great time. Sincerely. But I'd invest my money at Universal over Disney anyday.

I guess everbody is different but i really enjoy USF and like it better then IOA. How can you not like a great show like T23D, BTTF,MIB or great shows like the Horror makeup show, Hitchcock. When we go we usually spend 2 days their because i like seein my favorites several times. Is it different then disney, yes, but thats whats makes it so good, more adult orientated.

everyone is buying into the disney hype, usf and ioa are much better than disney . if you stay on site you go right to the parks in 5 minutes you do not have to ride busses and trams to get to the park, fotl is the best thing in entertainment perks nothing better than going to fotl and I do not understand how people like to wait 45 mins to 1 hour for the played out rides at disney. how boring is it to stand in line for a hour to get into who wants to be a bored millionare and who want to wait an hour for its a small boring world and the space mountain that was good like 25 years ago. Disney is old and tired and lives off its reputation, if you took the disney parks and put them in another part of florida and renamed them they would go out of business because unless you live in a time warp you would say boring. IOA has much better rides and USF has better shows, and halloween horrow was much better then the walt disney halloween SNOOOORRREEE FEST. Long live the king of the parks USF and IOA

halloween horrow was much better then the walt disney halloween SNOOOORRREEE FEST

It's intended to be geared toward young children at WDW...children who can't (well, at least shouldn't!) GO to Halloween Horror Nights...and to them, it's fun. Disney has more to offer the younger set...IMO, and they do a good job of it. I'm glad that they are so different, it gives people more choices, which is always good!
