We had this situation on night two, strangest thing have ever experienced on
DCL.
We were watching tv and we hear a scraping noise outside the door in the hallway, weird but it stopped within a minute or two. Turned off TV about 11pm all of the sudden we hear a machine outside the door loud unbelievable sound that time of night. We think must be a leak they're cleaning up. My husband opens the door and the hallway carpet is gone and the are using a machine to pick up/scrap up the padding remnants. Its 11pm at night. Of course we didn't know this or what was going on. So I call guest services. I waited a few minutes because I am sure I'm not the only one calling. When they answered I tell her the issue and she apologized. She says but this was planned and they can't stop working now they have to finish. I said you planned this at 11pm? I couldn't believe that they would plan this at this time of night. We didn't have kids with us on the cruise but I would have been furious if they woke up a young kid. I told her , " I have no words that this would be planned at this time of night."
Honestly, they should have delayed our boarding to do it then. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs some training.
They were very apologetic about it. It lasted about 30 minutes total, but we were then awake until after 1am. Imagine a kid or baby.
They called again the next day to apologize and sent a few things to the room the next day and an onboard credit as a "gesture of good will."
I thanked her said it wasn't necessary but we appreciate it. I told her that I really hoped they would find a different time to do that on other decks. As a mother and grandmother that is a nightmare for a parent.
On a
Disney Cruise 90% of people are in their cabins at 11pm.
