We just got back today from three wonderful days at the Grand Californian! This is the first time we stayed on property at the Disneyland Resort and I'm so glad we splurged with the Grand Cal, the hotel is beautiful with typical Disney attention to details at every turn. We spent a lot of time just soaking up the atmosphere.

We made great time on the drive home too, left Anaheim at 9:30 this morning and arrived back in Phx at 3:30. I'll be posting a trip report, but let me know if you have any questions.

I'm glad to be back home, but it was so hard to leave the hotel this morning! ;)

Hi Donna,

Glad you had a great time! Was your hubby suprised? I knew you would love the GC--it's really nice. How were the crowds? Where did you eat?

We had never stayed on-site at DL before our last trip there in April '01--it really was nice to be so close to everything. It's much more relaxing! We loved the GC--my kids wanted to go back there for our trip in June--we're going to try DLH this time though.

Welcome back!
Sue:)

Hi Sue,

Yes, my hubby was VERY surprised and I'm so proud of myself for holding out on telling him until we pulled onto Harbor Blvd and he was ready to turn into the Best Western (where he thought we were staying). Right as he was about to make the turn, I told him he had the wrong place and we were staying at the Grand Cal. He just got a huge smile on his face :D

The crowds were very light, the longest wait was 15 minutes for the Matterhorn. We either walked right on or waited about 5 minutes for the rest of the attractions in both parks.

Our best meals were dinner at both Hook's Pointe and Storytellers and our best lunch was the Blue Bayou and Creole Cafe in Downtown Disney (we love those shrimp po-boys)!

I have to say that the best part of the trip was staying at the Grand Cal. We wanted a nice, slow-paced trip and being so close in such a comfortable place really made all the difference. This turned out to be our best trip to DL yet!
