I just returned from DLR with my 3 kids aged 17, 21 and 23. Haven’t had a trip to Disneyland with all 3 for many years. Her are some of my thoughts...

Hotel: we stayed at The Grand Legacy at The Park. I have never stayed here before, but could not beat the $105/ night rate I got. The room was certainly clean, the hotel was quiet where we were located, super quick walk to the park. Would stay here again to aave money and spend it on other things.

California Adventure: Haven’t spent too much time here in the past. We really loved RSR, Incredicoaster, Toy Story Midway Mania, and GOTG. After that we, were kind of bored. With Maxpass we were able to do those rides multiple times. We left to our room for a few hours to return in the evening. We did Wine Country Trattoria WOC dinner package. The service at Wine Country was really prompt, the food, good, but not great. The viewing for WOC was great! We all loved the show (even though it broke down twice in the middle of the show)

Max Pass: We loved this! We could walk off of one ride and be all set for our next fp almost immediately. Today we left Disneyland at 1:00 and we rode SM twice, Indiana Jones, BTMRR twice, Haunted Mansion, POTC twice, had a sit down breakfast and mobile ordered a Dole Whip. Pretty productive for 4.5 hours in the park.

Anyway, a great trip for us all!

Leaving for our first Disneyland trip in a week. I am seeing that you said you were kind of bored at DCA. Did you use MaxPass at DCA or only at Disneyland? I am still up in the air about using MaxPass for four days (2 at each park). I am wondering if we will be tempted to ride the big ticket rides repeatedly (to the point of being kind of bored) at the expense of missing all the small details, the not-so-big ticket attractions. What are your thoughts? FWIW, we are not new to Disney (been many, many times to WDW).

Try it for your first 2 days. See how you like it. Then decide if you want it for all 4 days. We have Maxpass on our AP’s, and often end up canceling some of our FP’s because we’ve ridden multiple times and are ready for something else or can’t quute fit them in.

Thanks for posting your thoughts and glad you had a great trip. We love MaxPass too! Where did you have your sit down breakfast at?

We did use Max Pass all 3 days of our trip, did not have park hopper tickets, which might have helped with running out of things to do in DCA. We are not into “spinning” rides. it seems that there were many spinning type rides at DCA. Also seemed like the shows were really geared toward little ones.

Our sit down breakfast was at River Belle Terrace. Had to get the Mockey Mouse Pancakes. I used to get when I was a child. :mickeyjum

I would highly recommend MaxPass, especially if a trip to Disneyland is infrequent. Adds another layer of flexibility to your trip. It's been a good value to our family in the past.
