Hi everyone. We just got back from our first HH trip today. We stayed for 6 nights in a studio in the main lodge. Nex time, I will definately get a 1 bedroom. Other than that, our trip was great!!! I LOVED the beach!!
Being from Massachusetts, it was sooo nice to swim in the warm water. We rented beach chairs and boogie boards. The weather was perfect everyday. It was a very relaxing vacation. Much different from WDW. I liked the pool at the beach house better than the pool at the resort. The resort pool was a little too crowded. Hard to get a chair. At the beach house, we kept going back and forth from the beach to the pool. We flew down, landing in Savannah. The drive to HH wasn't bad at all, approx. 30 to 40 minutes and easy to find. The only thing I thought was weird was that the food and drink place closes at 5:00pm. I thought that was kind of early especially because we were in a studio and if we wanted to grab something quick for dinner or get a drink (alcohol of course) we couldn't do that after 5:00pm. We tried several restaurants. 3 of them were within walking distance, The King Fisher, Scotts fish market and San miguels and we also tried sticky fingers and the old oyster factory. Our favorite, although a bit pricey was the king fisher. Great Crab legs!!! We are now hooked. We decided to go back again in 2008. We are going to WDW for 3 nights in October and then for 10 nights in April. We will probably alternate between HH and WDW each year. For anyone who has not tried HH yet, I highly recomend it! :beach:

Thanks for the report. Having the food and drink place on site close at 5 pm, does seem very early to me, too. I am glad there were other places you tried that were nice, though. I would love to try HHI once with my dh and ds, but right now they do not seem interested in Vero or HHI but I keep trying! Thanks again for sharing and so glad you had a great vacation!! :sunny:

Thanks for posting. We haven't stayed at HH or VB yet either but plan to in the future. Annmarie

My girls felt the same way - nothing but WDW, so I made our first HH trip a "mystery vacation" over Fall Break one year. I told them we were going on a vacation, it was someplace new and fun, and it was NOT WDW. They were so excited!!! They didn't guess until my older daughter saw the exits for Hilton Head. And they LOVED HH - so much so that we'll be leaving a week from tomorrow for our annual trip!!!!

Glad you had a great trip!

We leave a week from today. :beach: I'm so ready!

I am so glad you posted. We are going to HHI for the first time in October and I was just thinking the other day whether we were going to miss being in the parks. My daughter really wants to go to WDW. I was ready to change our ressies. Now I won't! Thanks for the trip report.

So . . . how is the nightlife for 21 years olds? DS was thinking about going next year with some friends but doesn't want to if there isn't much to do after 5pm.

Thanks for the report. We are headed down for our first trip to the HH DVC in a couple of weeks. Granted it will only be for 2 nights, but we are excited none-the-less.

Thanks for the trip report. We love HHI and are thinking about doing an add on. The resort has the nicest cast members I have encountered. They all seem so happy and relaxed. We were there in May and had a wonderful time. We ate at Just Pasta, Old Oyster Factory, Guiseppe's, Signes and Cafe Europa, all were very good.

Thanks for the report! We would love to try HHI next year-did you book at the 11 or 7 month window? I'm wondering how hard it is to book summer months?

We booked at the 11 month window. I'm not sure what the 7 month window for the summer would be like. I would imagine that July 4th week might be a problem though.

Someday we'll try it. Thanks for the great report!

Bobbi :goodvibes

We're thinking April 2007! Thanks for the encouraging report.
