Just back...Fast Pass Info

I think when FP first came online the disconnected machines did occasionally change, so it's possible that Big Thunder could have been one of them.

But it's been ages since I've heard of anything other than Roger Rabbit at DL and Grizzly at DCA being disconnected.

As for allowing expired FP's from previous days or years (yep, heard of someone trying that too) I don't think it should have ever been allowed, and if it was, I'm all for the crackdown.

The system just isn't set up for that.
Sheesh, it's bad enough to be waiting in the stand by line for Space or Splash late in the day when it's been super busy.
As much as I like being able to use my expired FP's hours past the assigned time... when I'm standing in line not moving at all; while group after group of FP folks buzz by... I have to wonder how much shorter my wait time would have been if FP time windows were a bit more strictly enforced.
:confused3

The minute DCL starts allowing a little flexibility some people will figure out a way to scam the system.
:sad2:

The scam comment is not directed at you OP... it's more about folks who somehow manage to have stacks of FP's as PatMcDuck reported.
:confused3

And this, too, is not directed at OP, but I don't even understand why DL CM's ever allowed that flexibility of using day-old (or more) FP's in the first place because it is not like a Fast Pass is a one-time thing that you can only get once for that one ride and that's it. It is not Disney's fault or problem if the guests can't make it on the ride during their designated window of time, and it is a situation that can quickly and easily be remedied. So it was of no benefit to Disney to do that. It only inconveniences the other people waiting in line, as you indicated, Cats Mom. It was just another example of Disney trying to go above and beyond the call to accommodate guests - which they are very good at - but there was really no logic behind it that I can see. It was just a courtesy, and now I suppose they have realized that it doesn't make sense after all and are cracking down.

We heard a rumor when we were there in July that the BTMRR FP's machines were disconnected so we tried and nope, we were denied....LOL Only RR and GRR are disconnected.

And yes, you can get a FP for let's say RR, then Indy, then go to DCA and get one for GRR and Soarin' if you want. Each park is independent, you just need to follow the times for the DL FP's in DL and the DCA FP's in DCA. hth!

That's great info to know, Pixiewings! I learn something new on DISboards all the time. I never had any clue that DL and DCA FP's were independent from each other. Again, I don't use FP's too often, BUT if I end up back there in December - IF my holiday plan comes to fruition - then I will end smack dab in the middle of horrible crowds and that is when we might start taking advantage of the Fast Passes and finally using them to help us save some time in line. It is just like this Priority Seating thing for dining. It has been a great idea all along, but for some reason, it didn't 'hit' me until last December, when we waited about 30-40 minutes to be seated at Carnation, that making the PS would be really handy at certain restaurants because you can spend a lot of time in line otherwise. I think that as much as many people plan for their DLR trips, other people are slower to catch on to the little things that CAN save time (and even a little bit if money) and help them get the most out of their trips. When you discover them, it's like, "Wow! Why wasn't I doing this all along?!"

Thanks!! That is exactly what I needed to know!!

And from what I have heard on this board, it sounds like the CM's have been silently spreading the word that the FP system is likely on its way out the door over the next couple of years. They are slowly going to wean people off of it, I guess? It is not turning out to be as effective and efficient as originally conceived.
This is a rumor that gets recycled over and over. FP is going away! And then it never does. I would not worry about it.

We saw several guests on our trip last week, that had 3/4 inch thick stacks of Fast Passes. I was very curious, and wanted to ask them what the story was..... Both families were not speaking English, so I did not approach them though. (we saw them on seperate occassions leafing thru their stacks to find one ride or another). I was thinking they got them on Ebay somehow.
There are people who are making counterfeit FPs and selling them on E-Bay to poor, unsuspecting souls. Disney is moving towards combating this and testing out things like bar codes on the FPs.
