Okay, I love everyone here at the DIS, but you LIED!!!

I am a huge chicken when it comes to thrill rides. I asked about Everest from a chicken's point of view about the drop, and everyone here said, oh it's no big deal.....

Well it is a HUGE deal!!! That drop felt like it went on forever!!! So, listen up all you ride chickens, if you do not like the feeling of a sudden and steep drop, do not ride Everest!!!

On a more positive note, I did like the ride as a whole. It was very exciting and intense at the same time. The drop was the only bad part. Will I ride it again, probably!

I was very proud of myself for riding it. I was a little nervous and said a small prayer right before boarding, but I didn't psych myself out like I thought I would.

Good for you!!! :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed it and will consider riding again!

I cant wait to ride this in December. I love rollercoasters and havent been on this one yet. Glad you enjoyed it even if it was more than you thought.

Thanks luvpoohbear! In 19 days I will be fulfilling a promise I made to my son months ago - a ride on Everest with him! He loved it our last trip, but I chickened out. This time - I'll do it. Really. I'm mostly afraid of getting sick from the backwards part. I don't DO backwards. But this once, I guess I will be! Hopefully I won't be sick for the rest of the day. :sad2: Thanks for the inspiration.

I agree with you, OP, and I am not a huge chicken, just a little one, lol! I do most coasters without a problem, but EE made me really disoriented. I'm not sure what it was about that ride, but once was enough for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I tried it, but once was plenty. My 6 yr old agreed with me.

We rode it for the first time last week. What a great ride! It is intense and I would not recommend it for anyone afraid of heights...boy you're really up there! The drop was long, I also thought the backwards motion was long too. A lot of people compare it to revenge of the mummy, I think it's ROTM X 10.

all I can say is thank God for Dramamine :thumbsup2

I have to ride this when we get there...I have to be strong...I cant let bf to think I am a wimp!!! Ok so I'm going to make him ride rockin' rollercoaster by himself...but not Everest...the whole time I will be thinking "2 almost 3 minutes....2 almost 3 minutes...it will be over soon"

Well... you learned your lesson.. Don't trust us DIS Vet all the time! ;) Glad you did it though.. so now you know.

I either didn't see your question or did and told you it was intense! I was terrified on this one!

I was wanting to post before you left but didn't have time. I'm glad I didn't, now, b/c I would have also said it's no big deal from a chicken's perspective, LOL! I am a major ride WIMP. I love to go fast, love to go round and round, going up and down scares the tootsie rolls out of me....especially going UP. Point in case: I didn't ride SPLASH MOUNTAIN until our THIRD trip to Disney World! My 3-year-old daughter rode it before I did. :rotfl: Going up that last hill on Splash (oooh, it seemed so big at the time, LOL!) I was about to climb out and told my husband that if I lived to get off of it I was going to [insert some idle threat of physical harm to various body parts with a lot of muttered mild obscenities]. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Even though I still HATE going up the hills, going up EE isn't so bad to me for a couple of reasons -- first, the coaster doesn't grab and do that horrifying click-click-click going up. Second, because about half of that hill going up is covered; it leads me to not panic as much. You're only out in the open up high for a few seconds. I actually have opened my eyes and looked around a couple of times. We rode it in March; my DD was 6 1/2. She loves the coasters but I was a nervous wreck about her. Before we even stopped she was squealing, "Let's do that AGAIN!" To me, the ride is like BTMRR on steroids with the smoothness of RNR (which is about 5 minutes too short for me).

We'll be at the World in THREE days and this confirmed ride wimp is looking very forward to getting back on EE.

I'm also a big chicken when it comes to big drops, but I can handle the drop on Splash because I know it will be over soon. How is the big drop on Everest compared to Splash?

I really liked EE but it makes me motion sick. DH and DD rode it over and over again. I rode it once and it made me so queasy but I still liked the ride. :thumbsup2

I can only ride EE about 3 times in a row and then I will want to sit down for the rest of the day - it is all those tight turns after the drop.

I can handle the drop on Splash, I just close my eyes and it is over in an instant. But, the drop on EE seemed to go forever. I literally thought my stomach was going to come out of my ears!!! My youngest son who is 8 is usally not afraid of anything and he even said he thought he was going to be sick. :crazy2:

The rest of the ride is great. I love going fast and while I am afraid of heights I just kept looking forward going up the big climb and I was fine. The backwards part was way cool as well. The drop is the only thing I didn't like, but I know that most people like drops on a coaster, so I guess I will deal with it. :)

If you get sick just grab a sprite if you can drink soda! :-) This helps a lot with the feeling and sickeness feeling as well afterwards.

I'm pretty much a roller coaster chicken, too, but Everest didn't scare me at all.

I'll have to post my pic from Rockin' Roller Coaster sometime, though. You can see the sheer terror on my face... through my hands across my eyes... praying to be spared from immenent doom...

You and me both! While my friend is looking exhilirated and fun-scared in our RnRC picture, I look terrified and am clenching onto the little handholds with all my might. That will be one ride that I can say I've done, but I will chicken exit it from here on out.

Everest, though, was fifty thousand kinds of awesome and I want to go again! And again! And again! (etc)

Gulp.....I think I'll ride EE....I'll just close my eyes.

What kind of safety brace does the ride have? The kind that goes over my shoulders makes me feel better than just a lap bar. Is the safety brace tight, or does it wiggle around? I hate when it feels loose during the ride...however, on some rides it tightens up as soon as the coaster gets going.

:rotfl: No sweetie, they have the lap bar that comes down. It feels secure enough but they'll never put the shoulder harnesses on that ride unless they add a loop or something to it which will never happen. :)
