I write this because of the discussion that had happened in recent weeks regarding Disney Kennels and how they are. I am just back after a week long vacation and using Disney Kennels everyday.
Let me preface this by saying we have a 15 month old Jack Russel Terrier who is very active. He came from the Humane Society as a reject, so we were very leary of leaving him in a kennel as it may make him think we were leaving him again like his previous owner did.
We only used the TTC Kennel for the Magic Kingdom as we were so impressed with the employees there.
Firstly, the overal grade I would give the Kennel is an A++++. Because of this experience we will be using them every time we plan on going on a trip.
The Convenience is very good, except for having to leave MK and get a monorail to go see him, but hey, for the treatment he got, we'll deal with it.
Upon arriving we filled out the papers and showed them the vaccination papers (they do look thoroughly, so make sure to check ahead of time that they have all of their vaccinations). They asked me about our dog, and we expressed this was his first time in a kennel and that we dont know what to expect. He is a very shy dog, possibly from former abuse, so they took that into consideration.
They said they would take great care of him (please note that the MK kennel does not have the option to walk your dog, so you will need to come check on him, though nobody made it mandatory as was often expressed on here, so please be responsible).
When we left him he was crying loudly as this was a new and scary experience for him.
When we got into the parks we played a little while and then called to check on him. They told us he was doing just fine. This made us feel better. The staff was top top notch.
Finally late that night when we returned to get him (we only got to the park about 8:00 that night so we didnt return to check on him until we picked him up). When we walked in we saw our dog behind the counter just chilling out with the lady and gentleman who were working that night. We really didnt understand. So we asked why he was with them, and they said he began shaking and foaming at the mouth, obviously scared that the other dogs had left earlier and he was one of the few left. So they took him out of his cage, loved on him, took him out to use the bathroom and walked him (they do not do this as a courtesy in most cases, but they care about the animal's well being and deemed it necessary here). Then instead of returning him to his cage, they just kept him behing the counter to roam freely with them.
I really appreciated this and thanked them so much!
The rest of the week he adapted and they got to know his name and everyday when he came in (he stayed daily) they all greeted him and got him excited.
