Just Back - Dining Reviews!!!

Just returned from 3 days - wonderful, unexpected trip and good food. there were just 3 of us this trip - me, my husband and our son

Earl of Sandwich - dinner - always good - had the tomato soup, side salad, club sandwich (turkey and bacon), the spinach and chicken sandwich, and the italian deli sandwich...all excellent! the sandwiches are only 4.95 each and the sides of soup and salad are 95 cents each - the three of us ate for $22.00 for dinner and really enjoyed our meal (sat outside and people watched while we ate) A+

Columbia House - lunch - had not eaten here before but had read so much about it on this board - pretty tasty...john and stewart had tuna sandwiches which were very fresh tasting and not too much mayo; i had the hummus and broccoli slaw sandwich which was okay but the slaw was a little too sweet and runny for me - the bread on both types of sandwiches was very good - olive bread was on mine and i believe a multi-grain on the tuna. i think the sandwiches were 7 dollars and came with a bag of chips. we ate upstairs overlooking the entrance to haunted mansion - very pleasant place to eat and brighter upstairs.

Dole Whip - very good but rich - my husband and i spit one and it was enough - stewart had his own chocolate swirl - $7.00 for 2

Marrakesh - dinner - I was a little worried about this meal but we had never tried morocco for dinner - john really enjoys tangerine cafe for lunch - it was good - i had the lentil soup and a side salad; stewart had the chicken kebab(flavored with salt, pepper and cumin) and john had the beef kebob- soup was good and hearty, salad was good but very small for 6.00; both kebob dinners came with rice...dinner was around 65.00 (no drinks) (i used the DDE card which saved 12.00) - don't know that we would go back for dinner but would continue to enjoy the tangerine for lunch. belly dancing was fun to watch and the restaurant was very busy. B

Backlot Express - lunch - MGM - we all had a hamburger and it was good - 6.29 each - wish they still had their "fixings" bar - only now have ketshup and mustard available - B-

Raglan Road - excited to try a new place - our table was right in front of the band - the food was pretty good - the guys had hamburgers and said they were very good -fries were very good- john enjoyed his irish beer - i had a glass of wine and the chicken pot pie with rocket salad --- there was a lot of pastry and not much filling - the salads were served on the side of the hot plates so they were very wilted...portions were small---music was great and the irish dancer was fun to watch....nice gift shop attached....a fun place to go - stick to the burgers or appetizers and drinks and enjoy the music (lots of people seemed to get the appetizer fish and chips along with a drink and they were "set" for the evening)...the interior is great - good "bar" feel to it . 66.00 for the three of us (used DDE and saved 12.00) A-

Yakatori and Tangerine - lunch - Epcot - stewart and i had the teriyaki chicken and side salad and john had the "gyro" type sandwich from tangerine - both good - his sandwich was about 10.00 and the two lunches from yakatori were 13.00

Cookies from Norway - delicious - chocolate chip and large $1.80 each -( was going to get a pastry but the server said the cookies were his favorite)

BOMA - dinner - always good but they have changed a few things since we were there 2 years ago - the soup we had so enjoyed (corn chowder) was not there (tho a tasty chinese pepper soup was a good addition) and the large chocolate chip cookies were gone - instead they had what appeared to be "slice and bake" Nestle cookies ; the salmon was very overcooked and dry but potato salad was very good- all in all, lots of interesting things to try- still good ...26.00 each - had a glass of wine, john had a beer and stewart just had water - 90.00 (again, used DDE which saved us 18.00)

we always ate breakfast in our room - our total food averaged less than $100 a day for three people which i think was pretty good and we ate well at fun places...if you are able to get a DDE card, it is 20% off food and beverage (including alcoholic drinks) - there is a good selection of restaurants to choose from but counter service in Magic Kingdom, MGM and Epcot is not included

yes -they still have the carrot and ginger soup - very thick and flavorful - my son tried it and really enjoyed it!

Don't give up on your soup! I so wanted that carrot/ginger soup your son enjoyed but it was not served the Sunday night we were there.

Thanks for posting. I think eating well at WDW for under $100 is utterly amazing. You definitely put your DDE card to good use!

We plan on getting the DDE for our next trip, 2 weeks at Christmas, and I'm sure it's going to save us a ton!

kpsteffeyDDE card is available to annual pass holders. It can save you 20% on food and drinks at particular locations. The cost I believe is $60 for the year, and to get your monies worth you have to spend at least $300 in food/drink. I don't have the number in front of me, maybe someone else can provide it for you. I know it has also been stated on a thread before too.

What is a DDE card and where do you get it?

disney dining experience card - you can purchase it if you are a florida resident or an annual pass holder --- i purchased the passholder because i knew we would be at disney for at least 10 days this year, could get the passholder rate on our room for this past 3 night trip (saving 35.00 per night) and use the dde card for 20 percent off meals (not counter service in the parks except for animal kingdom) SO if felt i could justify the cost of the passholder (the rest of my family has the 10 day, park hopping, non-expiring tickets which came to about 38.00 per day
