We had a great time on our spring break trip, of course.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Country Inn at Calypso Cay. We would not hesitate to stay here again, and for the $44.50 rate, we wouldn't even bother looking elsewhere. This was the "entertainment book" rate, which they are no longer accepting, but Hotel Kingdom has had this rate as well. We would comfortably pay up to $60/nt. before shopping around.
Our rooms (we changed) were nice and clean. They were yellow/blue, just like in the brochure. Our first room was a pool view reg. room. Beds were comfortable. On Thursday, a group of very noisy high school kids moved in and kept us up until the wee hours, so we requested & received a room change. The second room was a kidsuite with a comfortable king bed. The kid room was in a pirates deco, with two small twin beds. It was much quieter here. Both rooms did have a stain on the carpet.
We did not use the shuttle service, as we had a rental. We were not offered any info regarding the shuttle, but I did see the buses there. (They looked pretty full.)
Chocolate chip cookies -- I have heard these are good, and the one I had was. But that was the only time I was able to obtain one in 8 days. Usually there were sugar cookies. Several times there was no cookie jar in sight.
Popcorn @ Amerisuites: This was hit and miss too. Apparently it isn't available until about 5pm, and is removed about 10pm. Although they popped it constantly, they had a difficult time keeping up with demand.
Pools -- The crab/waterslide pool was very nicely heated. My daughter enjoyed it a lot. It had fun features and was usually very crowded. The quiet pool nearest the CI was barely heated, if at all, and was usually empty. The quiet pool nearest Amer was heated. We swam in this one quite a bit since hardly anyone else was in it. It wasn't as warm as the main pool, but it was sufficient.
Minigolf -- we only played once. The course is very basic, but enough to please my child. We did not use the playground area.
Breakfast -- was the same every single day. Bread & bagels to toast, butter, jelly, cream cheese, peanut butter, assorted muffins (no chocolate); instant oatmeal; bananas and oranges; fruit loops/raisin bran/corn flakes cereals. Whole & 2% milk, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, coffee, & tea. And cinnamon rolls (actually, I think they were those pecan twirls by Little Debbie). There was no hardboiled eggs or biscuits and gravy while we were there. We never walked to Amerisuites for breakfast.
Laundry facilities -- were located in the CI on 4th & 6th floors. We did a load of laundry early one morning, with no waiting. However there was only one washer & one dryer on 4th floor, so I imagine it can get busy.
Time Share -- I saw them meeting with a few people, but we were never approached.
This resort is located a short distance from many restaurants, shops, etc. and just a few minutes to Disney property.
I'll try to answer any questions you might have.
