My DW and I just returned from our latest of many WDW trips--a combination conference and vacation, call it a "Conferacation" I guess.

We were joined by our DD (26), who is now a full-time cast member :). We were eager to visit TS Land, especially given the nostalgic appeal for our daughter who not only grew up with those movies, but worked TSM during her College program.

We really liked the theming execution a lot, but somehow thought the land might be bigger. It would have been nice to be able to loop around the experience instead of just hitting a dead end and having to turn around.

With regard to attractions, we agreed that the Slinky Coaster was a sleeper "hit"--far superior to the mine train at MK. Others may disagree. Other members of our party got to experience the saucer ride and they gave it rave reviews. I also appreciated the interaction with the army personnel, who roamed about and interacted in a more extemporaneous way with guests--rather than having people wait in line to get their photos, etc.

The one negative, as countless others have noted, is that I think Disney dropped the ball on not providing sufficient protection from the nuclear-level heat of the sun--wow! That was intense!! The sun felt much closer than 93 million miles I can tell you that. Seems like more shade should have been considered--or more A/C escapes within the land.

But other than that, we really enjoyed it--especially at night with the cool Christmas bulb lights, etc.

Cheers, over and out!

Much like when the AK opened people would comment about the heat and lack of shade. Give the landscaping a few years to grow and develope. I am sure it will get better in the coming years.

There isn't any immature vegetation that will "grow in." The only trees are on the periphery of the land, behind railings, and they are already mature trees. There are no trees planted along the walkways...it's all toy theme elements. The walkway is large and wide, like a promenade. There is nothing to break up the exposure except some ugly umbrellas that Disney added hastily. They need to build an actual covering, like those mesh sails you see on playgrounds.

Studios is my least favorite park for exactly this reason - the entire park is lacking in shade, IMO.
