Just back... be careful recommending LeCellier, too highly!

so sorry to hear the bad reviews of le cellier. myself and my 12 yr old boys ate there on the 15th of dec and loved it. we allso had the candelight package eating after the performance. we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving which was great because we arrrived about 40 min early due to hunger. our waitress was great alittle slow but not bothered by it. i had shrimp app and the 14ox ny, son i had beef kabob and filet and other son had cheese soup and prime rib. my meal was perfect shrimp was amazing, son tried an d did not like but i loved it. My steak was done to perfection and was as tender as a filet. son one had to be talked into ordering the kabob because he is so picky but he loved it. his steak was also perect he did order it plain due to pickyness. second son hated his whole meal. soup had too many onions and they were chewy his prime rib was horrible it was so fatty that he could not eat it. had we not been ont he dinning plan i would have refussed to pay for it. desserts were great and would deffinately go back.

We were there at the end of August last year. I raved to my family how we had to try to place. We had advanced ADR at 7:30pm and waited about an hour to get in. It was weekend so maybe that kind of wait is to be expected? Our waitress was wonderful but our meal was never to end. We are happy not to rush through a meal but this was painfully slow. My DH and DS love to remind me that "This was your idea, wasn't it?" The atmosphere is nice, the food was wonderful but unfortunately, the delays distracted from the experience. We didn't have the dining plan so we paid dearly for our torture.

He ate most of it, but had he known it was rare he would have passed also. We love the explainations of the food, sorry your trip wasnt up to par. I loved our dinner here and we will be back asap! I had the new york and dh had the mushroom filet. Both meats were done to perfection, (I like mine good and dead as Dh says when I order, I dont eat it if there is any pinkish red! ) DD didnt really like the chicken strips they were too peppery for her, but she preferrs Mcdonalds type nuggets. Our server was very helpful and if he didnt know he went to ask and came back with the answer for a wine questions I had.

Oh, no..! Paid full price for your torture! Well, you and your family sound like you kept your sense of humor about the experience! lol! I have never waited an hour to be seated at Le Cellier, weekend or not. Especially the end of August! That is usually a slow period for Disney. I agree that the painfully slow service detracts from your enjoyment of the food. I loved my soup and salad, including the riesling. It was very nice. But the flattening of the bottom, was a bit uncomfortable after awhile!

O.K. so this thread has me a bit concerned. We have two young kids, will be 2 and 5 at the trip, and don't do to well at long meals. I booked LeCellier because of the high recommendations and my hubby's love for steak but am now thinking lunch at Coral Reef may be better by the tanks so the kids are entertained. Any thoughts?

My own suspicion is that they are the victim of their own popularity. They anticipate something like 30% no shows, but when a restaurant is on everyone's MUST DO list, the no shows turn out a lot less, and they get backed up. I also suspect they never anticipated being fully booked every evening and the kitchen - which was original set up for the cafeteria style of the former restaurant - isn't up to handling the pace.

My advice if you really want to do this for your DH, is to try and be one of the first dinner reservations available, say 5 to 5:30 PM. I don't think you will have any problems if you go that early.

The aquarium is awesome at Coral Reef, but I have not been in quite a while so cannot recommend the food. The reviews have been hit or miss on Coral Reef, so like crisi said, they may also be suffering from their popularity.

We have friends that recently returned and mentioned the "poor" attitudes of many servers in various restaurants. I begging to wonder if the Dining Plan has anything to do with it. It shouldn't but I was really surprised when theu mentioned LeCellier, Concourse Steakhouse and Yacht Club Galley.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner and it was as before wonderfull. I had steak, my wife the samon, my daughter chicken, and my son the special turkey meal. All were very good are our server was also good. We have eaten here before and will again in April and I don't expect this to be a fast paced place to eat and plan on at least 1 1/2 hours for a the meal which is just what I like to have at the end of a day. So far we have never had a meal we did not enjoy.

There have been places in Epcot that we tried more than once and each time felt it was sub-par but this has not been the case in the fine dinning establishment.

I also tried the Ice wine this trip it was great but man to expensive to have more than once.

We ate there on 12/26 and both the food and service were wonderful. Most of us had steak, but DH and DS had salmon and said it was delicious too.
