Just Back - Anyone else see the police last night?

Kids driving the golf carts is a huge problem. I think the worst offenders are the privately owned golf carts. I have actually heard an owner of a cart tell security that it is their private golf cart and they can let whoever they want to drive it. For whatever reason, Disney doesn't want to recognize this problem. Maybe Magicbus has a suggestion.

I'm sure that happens too, but in my experience the rental carts far outnumber the privately owned ones. And all of the insane and dangerous behavior I've witnessed (incl. kids driving) has been with rentals.

Just a hunch on my part, but I would think that most people who own their own carts are more likely to take care of them and not let their kids trash them. Rentals on the other hand - seems there may be the mentality of "hey, it's not my cart, why should I care if I wreck it?"

Saw the thread title and was wondering if this could be related to what our boat driver told us yesterday (just got back).

Apparently there was an accident Monday night at the FW dock-- one of the resort launches crashed into the dock, breaking it (only one side of the dock was in use after that happened.) When someone asked her if anyone was hurt, she said "I'm not allowed to answer that." :scared1:

On one of our trips last year we saw the Real Police( Sheriff's Dept. ) giving out citations to golf carts, one was to a adult letting child drive and another to a young teenager driving. This was just after a accident involving a child..

Last 4th the real PO-PO blocked the exit of the 600 loop and told a fellow Dis boarder he need to stop looping or he would find a reason to take him to jail

Hey, I was there that night. It was the real police over there, and a little white car. I saw them drive the little white car out by the backyard bbq pavillion. We were coming back from the beach/fireworks when we saw them. Not sure what happened before to cause the police to be there.

The cart police were out when ew were there in April but it was Mrs. Barney Fife. We were at the bus stop and a 30+ went buy on a razor scooter holding an adult beverage. She about ran him down and told hem to pour it out or she would call OCSD and gave him a huge lecture on what would happen if he rode out in front of a bus or RV . meanwhile two carts went buy packed with very young kids and no adults and she just waved.

Has anyone ever seen kids get into trouble for driving the carts? I was disappointed at how many times I saw groups of kids on the golf carts with no adult in site. I am pretty sure that many times they did not see me, since they just about ran up on the sidewalk & mowed us down.

I was waiting all week to hear the news that someone crashed a cart. Am I alone on this or is that a problem at FW?
Yes when I worked for Disney we took a cart from kids after telling parents many times they could not be diving it. Well after the parents compland they got the cart back the kids got in to an accidents they suited Disney and got 1.5 million

they were only using the right side most of the time we were there the last two weeks. i saw a cracked piece of wood, should have taken a picture! they must have new drivers, it took forever to pull in and we hit HARD when docking.

I wouldn't necessarily guess that it was a new driver.

On one of my visits this year, we encountered an old, grouchy, boat driver. He was operating the small, resort launch. We rode with him a few times over the course of our stay.

On more than one occasion, we saw the guy untie and leave when there were empty seats in the boat, and folks walking down the dock, trying to get his attention.

And, the guy always approached the docks at full speed, and then threw the engines into reverse at the last possible second. Like it was a game. The guy definitely had a screw loose. I never saw anyone else operate the boats like this guy did.

I'll bet he did it.

what did this grumpy guy look like?

what did this grumpy guy look like?

He was a little fellow. Maybe 5' 6" and very thin. With a leathery face, gray hair and permanent scowl. You know, classic grumpy old man.

When we were over at Seabee's site they had a tow truck driver fixing a tire and this guy evidently goes to a lot of WDW property calls and he claims OCSO is called to come break up fights and other stuff at WDW than you'd believe. I guess with Todd and I not there this might be a slack time for them. I wonder if they have like a graph to show when the most trouble happens and if any names pop up that raised Asian Jasons eyebrows? :lmao:

That part is true. I used to work in Disney, and always saw OCSO or Osceola(the other OCSO) around either giving tickets out or bringing someone out in handcufffs.
Both Orange and Osceola, along with FHP are the real enforcement agencies on property. Disney security will usually call for them, if they arent already on the way. I know Orange county, has a subdivision on property, and all they do is patrol property, both in uniform and undercover. FHP has traffic jurisdiction and enforcement on property, as well as FDOT enforcement.Theyve been making there presence known lately also.

We saw the roadster start to drive out, and I think they were routing him out past Crockett's, so toward the bbq pavillion. We were up by the buses by then - there was a driver behind the wheel of the roadster at that point. Too late to stay and gawk.
And I want to say they were OC police, not just disney cruisers, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

We did notice an increase in OC presence at the parks. When we arrrived, the bag searches were really fast. But within a few days we started seeing cops near the search areas, and our last 2 park days the bag search took forever. They took every item out of our backpack and cooler pack. It made us wonder if they were dealing with some specific threat information or just playing it by the book. :confused3

I noticed that the other day at DHS. I saw for the first time in a long time, a Disney K9 team, at the bag check. Till then,Ive only seen them on the road.I think that OCSO had one of there K9s there also.

The mulch road is what I was referring to. I just couldn't think of the word, although I guess wood chips would've worked too.

It's amazing how all the paths at Disney are wide enough for trucks to get through. It's funny seeing big ol semi's parked in front of Peco's at 6am. It's also safety for the parade floats, since they are really heavy vehicles.

Its done deliberatley, not only for delivery, but also fire code. Reedy Creek FD, has it written into the code that any building/attraction, has to have acess for the biggest truck on property, and at the moment thats tower 11 on BVD between Epcot and DHS/Carribean.Theres actually a minumum width and turn radius.
