We're just back from our 10 days at the Fort. My husband wanted me to ask if anyone knows why there were 2 police cruisers and a nice little white BMW roadster driving on the cart path in front of the Settlement Trading Post last night.
It was just after the 10pm fireworks, so I'm guessing 10:30 or so.

I have some pics (not many, sorry) to post later when I get my TR together.

I don't know why the police were there.

I do know I wasn't.

So it wasn't me.

Are either Stacktester or Discamper at the Fort?

If so, I would guess they had something to do with it. :rotfl2:

There is a way to get a car in front of Settlement, but it ain't legal, and it ain't easy.

I'd say someone was "blazing their own trail"!! :rotfl2:

TCD: Donnie claims he had a smoke stack up his butt today in Jax, so I don't think it was him!! Todd's wanting to keep his nose clean just in case he decides to join the Fort Po-Po, so, I don't think it was him, either.

Is Derrick there? He'd put a beemer kit on a golf cart!!

I am in Crystal River actually. In this heat I can only wish I was at the fort. In order to do this there had to be some removable poles somewhere. I'm thinking the one's in the 100 loop by Crazy Judys site.

When we were over at Seabee's site they had a tow truck driver fixing a tire and this guy evidently goes to a lot of WDW property calls and he claims OCSO is called to come break up fights and other stuff at WDW than you'd believe. I guess with Todd and I not there this might be a slack time for them. I wonder if they have like a graph to show when the most trouble happens and if any names pop up that raised Asian Jasons eyebrows? :lmao:

we are here now and saw it all happening as we got off the boat. the white beemer convertible was parked near the circle just before the cart parking. we were shocked! it was surrounded by 3 disney popo cars and they were walking all over the place looking for the person. we drove by slowly hoping to see some action but nothing. we rode through our 200 loop and back and and car was gone that fast!
we have our dogs with us and they put us in 200 loop, i guess 300 was full on sunday. at first we were only ones with pets and now there are a couple more.

Uh oh! I bet a yuppie came back wondering where his beemer was! I bet the WDW popo had that snatched out of there so fast and I bet it wasn't easy or cheap getting it back! It would have been really hard to get a vehicle up there bigger than golf cart size.

To get the car back there, they take the dirt path back by the Backyard BBQ pavilion, and then on the paved road from there towards Trails End. I've seen Disney PoPo on that road, back when they were tearing down the restroom building at River Country. Scared me to death that I hid behind one of the poles in the pavilion till he passed... really really slowly.

Another route would be to go behind 300 loop behind Settlement Trading Post and come in behind 114. Wish I coulda seen this.

Donnie that would have been cool to see just like the golf cart on the fence. I wonder was it Fort Po-Po or OCSO police cruisers and were the Hell is Brian when things like this happen

There you have it! You don't have to take any poles down to do this. My biggest fear would be getting stuck in the sugar sand.

Doesn't anyone wonder how delivery trucks get in there to stock the Settlement Trading Post? I'm sure TCD knows. ;)

We saw the roadster start to drive out, and I think they were routing him out past Crockett's, so toward the bbq pavillion. We were up by the buses by then - there was a driver behind the wheel of the roadster at that point. Too late to stay and gawk.
And I want to say they were OC police, not just disney cruisers, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

We did notice an increase in OC presence at the parks. When we arrrived, the bag searches were really fast. But within a few days we started seeing cops near the search areas, and our last 2 park days the bag search took forever. They took every item out of our backpack and cooler pack. It made us wonder if they were dealing with some specific threat information or just playing it by the book. :confused3

I have seen a Class A pull into the golf cart path, that goes down by the tennis courts and the main swimming pool!!! We all were wondering in shock, what in the heck was that guy thinking??? He made it all the way down to the 2 poles in the pathway. Duh? The amusing part was watching him back that thing up the winding path!! Oh yea, the Dis po-po were there too!!

1) Actually, all you need to do is take the employee road.
2) That takes you to Pioneer Hall.
3) You can drive right in front by turning at the stables.
4) Not hard or complicated at all.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner.

You could get a semi back to the Settlement Trading Post if the need ever arose.

There are 18 wheelers pulled up behind Pioneer Hall all the time.

They come in the road past Creekside Meadow, drive behind the horse barn, and into the big lot behind Pioneer Hall.

There is a wide, mulched path that goes from here to the paved roadway that goes from the old River Country entrance to the circle in front of the Settlement Trading post.

This is the route that vehicles take to deliver goods to the Settlement Trading Post. If you pay attention, you will see Milk Trucks, Chip Trucks, and WDW vans drive this way. My good friend Brian also uses this route to harass fireworks viewers on a nightly basis.

If you wanted to drive your car to the Settlement Trading Post, there is nothing to stop you other than the Do Not Enter sign by the Settlement Bus Stop. Here is the route you would take:

And, I don't have a photo of any civilian automobiles in front of the Settlement Trading Post, but I do have some of some geniuses on motorcycles:

I wouldn't recommend trying this.

Brian will get you!

The mulch road is what I was referring to. I just couldn't think of the word, although I guess wood chips would've worked too.

It's amazing how all the paths at Disney are wide enough for trucks to get through. It's funny seeing big ol semi's parked in front of Peco's at 6am. It's also safety for the parade floats, since they are really heavy vehicles.

Has anyone ever seen kids get into trouble for driving the carts? I was disappointed at how many times I saw groups of kids on the golf carts with no adult in site. I am pretty sure that many times they did not see me, since they just about ran up on the sidewalk & mowed us down.

I was waiting all week to hear the news that someone crashed a cart. Am I alone on this or is that a problem at FW?

Unfortunately it seems to be the norm these days. I've seen loads of kids that were very definitely too young to be driving a cart, including a boy & girl across from us that could not have been older than 10 who were racing the thing in circles in and out of the road and through the wooded area behind their campsite. I've also seen young teens come shooting out from the grassy area behind the dog park into the road. They just waved on the way by. :(

First off don't spank me for being a Disney law breaker, but on our 2nd visit we brought our own golf cart and I let DS who was 15 at the time drive with me sitting next to him and DW in the back. I figured it was no big deal since he was an excellent driver who raced his go kart for many years prior. Disney PO PO pulled us over and gave us that yellow flyer and explained no one under 16 without a license was to drive a GC. Of course we obeyed despite the fact that exactly what you witnessed (and all of us do) with younger kids 10 or sometime younger driving them alone and worse yet with a group of younger kids out for a suicide run. Selective enforcement? You betcha!

When I saw the title of this thread, the carts were the first thought that came to mind. We had a good time otherwise. Just a little disappointed at all the attention to detail that Disney gives us, only to see this item appear to be ignored. Sort of makes me think that they are more worried about their $60 a day rental fees.

I was beginning to think it was only me that had noticed. Thanks for the replies.

Sorry, don't mean to sound like a whistleblower, but the kids are pretty dangerous driving these things and also create a lot of rowdy noise at times. I compeltely disagree with parents letting young ones drive these things. Call the Fort Security to possibly save someone's life.
