My son and I just returned last night from an incredible 10 day WDW trip staying at PC/OKW. The weather was wonderful and crowds were very manageable, especially at AK yesterday (5 minute wait for Kliamanjaro Safari and It's Tough to Be a Bug, 10 minute wait for Dinosaur and Primevil Whirl ~ we thought the signs were April Fools Day jokes!!). We did a few EMH nights. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Wow sounds like you had a great time. We leave on Monday and I was wondering how the crowd levels were and it sounds like they were pretty good. A couple of quesitons, were the the restaurants busy and did you see any gold mickey ears? Thanks.

I have a similar question - we leave on Fri. and I was wondering if you noticed a large drop in crowds mid week? I had heard from others that said Easter and Monday were incredibly crowded - what's your take?

If you have a 50 gallon drum that is being filled at the rate of 10 gallons per hour but has a hole that drains at the rate of 5 gallons per hour, how long until the drum is filled?

Thanks!

PS Sorry, I've always wanted to do that :rotfl2: . I need to get myself to WDW!

OK, I guess I should have said feel free to ask any WDW questions (although I am an Accountant and like story problems ~ I think the answer is 10 hours!). As far as the crowds, I was preparing myself for the worst. We visit WDW every summer and had a few Christmas/New Years trips. I was pleasantly surprised at the crowds (not even as bad as our summer trips and definitely not Christmas quality). We made good use of Fast Pass and the EMH at MK last Wednesday (midnight - 3 am) with friends from home, was a blast and we did every ride!! They have only been to WDW once before and kept calling me "Tour Guide Barbie" all night (I guess there are worst things to be called!). I did notice a drop in crowds ~ Tuesday, but I usually had my butt parked in front of the Off Kilter stage in Canada all afternoon, so I'm not sure about ride wait times. We only had 6 PS for the 10 days and did counter service for most of our meals. We tried to eat at off times and did fine. We ate at Beaches and Cream 3 times and the longest we had to wait was ~ 10 minutes (we went at 2 pm, 1 pm and 7 pm). I did encounter a really long line at The Electric Umbrella at Epcot last Thursday, but it was ~ noon so it was to be expected.

I did not see any gold ºoº ears, although I just saw a post today that the new 50th celebration GOH badges/nametags are now out (darn it, I'll have to pick one up in June).

Any more questions, uhh I mean WDW questions?!?!?

Insufficient data. The location of the hole is not stated, only assumed to be at the bottom. For all we know , it could be two inches from the top.

A better question - you have $10 and 3 children. How do you divide the $10 evenly ??

Buy 4 Mickey Bars, of course ! One for each of them, and one for you ! Remember, this is "Disney Math" now :) !

does it matter where the hole is, since we have the info of how much leaks out each hour? I too, think the answer is 10.

I agree that if this was a standard math word problem that the answer the teacher would be looking for is 10, because you are assuming that the hole is placed such that the drum starts to leak as soon as water is added. I was just making the observation that one should not assume what is not specifically stated. Think of it this way - what if the hole was in the side of the drum, at a point where the drum contains 40 gallons ? In this case , the drum had been filling for 4 hours ( 4h x 10 gal. ) but no leaking had occurred because the hole had been above the waterline during this time. After you reach the level of the leak, the relative rate of filling would then be 5 gallons per hour ( 10 [absolute] - 5 [loss] ). Now the drum has been filled in 6 hours , not ten.

Now to get this thread back to te original direction, still talking about water and flow - did the original poster try any of the new water park attractions ? I heard that the new water ride at Typhoon Lagoon is supposed to be pretty cool !

We never made it over to the water parks. The days that we planned on going, they were already closed (at capacity) by the time we got moving (we're not "morning" people). Crush N Gusher is open now. We REALLY hoped to get in on the Soarin sneak preview, but every time we wandered by, there were no CMs hanging around. We did get to see the new stunt show at MGM. It was VERY cool (to quote my 15 yo son). It is in a HUGE stadium. I can't even guess how many thousands of people it holds. The show is ~ 45 minutes long. Lots of really neat stunts and they even give away a few stunt secrets. I highly recommend the EMH. We only did the nights, but you can't believe how much you can get in in 3 hours of really low crowds. Very well worth getting to bed late.

dznyacct,
That's good to know that the crowds are lower. My problem is that with DD's (twins 8), if we stay up late too many days in a row...it will be BAD in terms of grouchiness due to sleep deprivation. Maybe we could do some of the EMH but not try to do the entire time for certain nights only. What sort of wait times for which rides (just a few examples, please)? Are the Fastpass machines up for the evening EMH or not really needed? :flower: THANKS for your kind offer to help!

An example of EMH (evening) at MK last Wednesday (midnight - 3 am). We met up with friends from home at MK at 11:30. There were tons of people already streaming out of the park. My son is 15 and their DDs are 13 and 14, so we had some thrill seekers with us. The mountains all had waits of ~ 10 - 15 minutes (much better than the 120 minute waits we saw the day before!). The Indy cars (which we never do during the day because the line is always ssssooooooo long) had ~ 15 minute wait. Everything else was a walk on. My friend (who is not a late night person at all) kept saying how glad she was that they were doing EMH, especially with their own "Tour Guide Barbie"! While we were waiting for Space Mountain (at ~ 2 am), some people did come through with Fast Passes (which I didn't think they would have during EMH).

Is the Crush N Gusher open yet? How about Soarin'?
Crush n Gusher is open. My dd's and I rode it once. It was fun, but a bit painful on the bum. We knew from suggestions on this board to hold overselves up in the tube, but it still hurt. I think solid tubes would be much better, IMHO.

dznyacct,
Wow! You are right, those wait times are low! We are spoiled with Fastpasses, but with wait times like that, we could appreciate a little EMH time!

Thanks for the info, we'll try it for at least a little while. Hopefully we'll leave just before the DD's collapse! They will get a kick out of staying up so late.
