We just came back from a week in Orlando. Went to Magic Kingdom one day only and three days at Universal. Travelled with sister-in-law and 3 kids, 9,12, and 15! Had a super time. We stayed at Hawthorn Suites on Canada Ave., rented car from Dollar and flew with United. Thanks for all prev. info from other travellers. I'm happy to answer any questions!

glad that you had a great time......that always helps......did you hit any good restaurants......was the heat and humidity unbearable?

Thanks, Pumba! Travelling from Canada for the first time, I was expecting the weather to be unbearable. I was pleasantly surprised! We always got an early start so the mornings were wonderful, just warm but not very humid. The afternoons got really hot but we usually headed back to the pool by 2:00. We stayed off-site so we just hit the restaurants on I-Drive. Everyone's favourite for all ages was TGI-Fridays. We don't have them in Canada so it was a nice change. We also ate at Darrell's near Ripleys on I-Drive and that was very nice. Hitting the parks early sure helped with the line-ups, most rides we just walked right on and had no wait. If we liked it , we went around and got on it again!

Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a great time! I'm a Disney veteran but I've yet to go to Islands of Adventure. Did you like all of the thrill rides there? Glad you like TGIFriday's! Just a note - if you live near Niagara Falls Ontario, they've got a TGIFriday's there now! Haven't tried it out yet, but it's on my to-do list. Thanks for posting!

so glad you had a great time. we are going in october and staying off sight. so i'm sure we will be doing a lot of resturants off disney property. is tgif expensive. traveling with 3 teenage children. just don't know too much about off property places to eat. thanks for any info.

IOA was actually our favourite! We loved the Hulk and Spiderman the best. I am generally not a thrill rider but decided now was the time to do it! I'm glad I took the chance as I was not the least bit nauseated or anything. Going through Jurassic Park was really nice, so tropical! The river adventure ride was good too! I would not waste my time on Dr. Doom again as it was really quick. Duelling Dragons was pretty exciting also. My 9 yr. old would not go on it as it looked too scary but the teenagers loved it!

I live near Kingston between Ottawa and Toronto so I don't go to the Niagara region often. I do hope they open a Fridays in this area! The prices at Fridays were not bad. My sister-in-law had a steak for $14 that she said was really good. I had quesildas( not sure how to spell it) that was excellent for $9. Another night I had the baby back ribs for $12. The 12 and 15 year olds raved about the chicken strips. Darrells had about the same prices with a lit bit more variety. Their kids meals were actually $3.49 and there was lots of food. We did take out one night and the kids meals filled up everyone! There are so many restaurants on I-Drive that you should have no problem. We would just walk along and look at the menus posted outside to see if we would like it!

Welcome Home ~ Glad you had a great time!!!
