Well, I didnt imagine it!! The gentleman who came down was early fifties and wearing white shirt with all the usual "flight insignia". He may have been the flight engineer rather than the pilot, but they all sit in the same place, so one of them must have known which one it was!! The member of the cabin crew who spotted " the problem" was a young chap, early twenties, blond spiky hair and glasses. He pointed out of the portside window and the flight engineer/pilot whoever looked out, rubbed his chin, and said something to the flight attendant.
Maybe it was only something extremely trivial (DH says panels can come away sometimes and this isnt a threat to the aircraft???). I didnt mean to imply the plane was about to plummet into the ocean, just that I have a tough time of flights anyway and this incident shook me up. I know Virgin used this model of aircraft until very recently as well, so its not uncommon to be used on transatlantic journeys. Im sure its perfectly safe, just when the Worlds Worst Flyer (me) sees what she assumes to be the pilot looking kind of worried out of the window, it doesnt do a lot for the nerves!
Thanks for the inside info anyway, Steve. Do you work for EA? Overall, I found them pretty good, and Im sure I WILL use them again, once this fades from my mind!!
