We just got back from a 8 night stay in Orlando.
Below is a quick review. I post a trip report later this week.

05/28-06/01/04
Portofino Bay resort-Onsite Universal hotel.
Can not say enough good things about this hotel. The hotel is great and service is even better. Te FOTL access is great.

06/01/04-06/06/04
Animal Kindom Lodge
What a resort! It was the best.

Crowds(Universal Studios/IoA-The crowds were large at Universal on Memorial day. Most wait times at stand by lines were 60-120 mins!

Crowds(Disney World)-The crowds were not bad at all. USE FAST PASS! We did E-Night on 06/02/04 and it was the BEST. We did all the major rides. We did space mountain 3 times,Splash Mountain 2 times and Big Thunder 4 times!

Weather-It was HOT the first few days. Highs around 98-99(Being from Texas it was not that bad). No much rain until mid-week. It rained around 3-5p.m. every afternoon starting 06/04/04.

By any chance did you see the Royal Pacific Hotel when you were at Universal?
We are staying there two nights and then staying at WDW at The Yacht club.

Services etc... how would you say Universal hotels compare with Disney's?

Mrs J Henry, we did visit the Royal Pacific hotel. The hotel is very nice and clean!

I dare to say this because Iam a Disney addict but I need to be honest and say that I was really impressed with Portofino Bay. The service is the best I have seen in a long time. This time around I would have to give it to Portofino over AKL(this time). We stayed in standard room with a bay view we were not club level every evening around 8:00-9:00p.m. someone from housekeeping or a supervisor would knock on our door and would ask if there was anything we needed for the rest of evening! This was a first.

Royal Pacific is a very nice hotel. The rooms are not as big as many WDW deluxe hotels, but they are very nice. You can request free turndown service for the evenings if that is your thing. Make sure you sign up for the Loew's membership and you will get a free welcome gift and a newspaper. You can pool hop so try out the Hard Rock or Portofino pool.

We are hoping we like it. We would love to stay at portofino but we were trying to cut down a little since this trip seems to keep getting bigger and bigger
maybe next time since I have heard such wonderful things about it
