Just got back from our WDW New Year's Eve celebration ~ and we had a great time!
Yes, it did rain.. it poured! But! We were able to watch the fireworks from the Poly with absolutely no problem
The only slightly negative thing was that almost all the CM's that we encountered (notice, I said "that we encountered") at the Poly were kinda cranky. I chalked it up to them wanting to be home with their own families on NYE.
We'll be home until we leave for our next visit in 7 days
