Lots of new people being trained to work at store cash registers . Also saw lots of Disney "exec's" (you know, those guys in the navy blue blazers) checking everything out at the rides, the restaurants, etc.

I noticed that now at the MK, CM's are waving goodnight and holding up a sign that says "See Ya real soon!" as you exit the park. They're standing above at the train station--just like at Epcot when the cm's wave goodnight with the big Mickey gloves. Also, once outside the park, Mickey Mouse is on the lawn and talking! There's a spotlight on him and he says goodnight to all, and thanks them for coming, and hopes they had a good time. It was too cute to see the little ones waving and telling Mickey they'd see him again.:dumbo: :donald: :mickeyjum :tink: :smickey: :ccat: :tigger: :sulley: :goofy: :stitch: I just hope they tell their parents before they book the next trip! :faint:

We noticed a number of execs last week also. They all seemed pretty friendly and there were quite a few "Hello's" from them as well. My husband wanted to check out some of their pins when we saw a few at MGM, but they looked like they were having an important conversation so we didn't interrupt, but they did say hello also.

I did see a few trainees also. Hubby kept saying he wanted to go to the job fair last week, but I told him they weren't likely to pay me what I'm making right now, so we couldn't afford it.

I didn't notice Mickey. Wish I had. That would have been fun to see.

The trainees are the new kids for the College Program. The others left a couple of weeks ago and the new ones have started. You will see a ton of "I'm Earning My Ears" pins for a couple of weeks. My sister is a CM at DTD and she has been doing training this past week.

This had us all in floods of tears on our last night cant wait to go back in August my Dsons thought it was just fantastic :goodvibes

sometimes the execs work at the different locations too.... it keeps up their "street cred" :)

In Oct and Dec we noticed the characters out front and the CMs with the signs but no execs

I loved the "See ya real soon!" signs as we left the MK. What a nice touch!

Oh my goodness the signs that say "See ya Real Soon" would make me tear up !!

:)
Sometimes I work parade and afterwards, once in a while, I may be one of those up there on the train station holding one of the four *SEE*YA*REAL*SOON* signs, yelling and waving with the Mickey Gloves :teeth: It's fun, I love watching people's reactions :wave2:

It really is a very nice touch. I've been to Disney dozens of times, but this time, I got a little teary-eyed. You should have seen the children as they left. They were so enthusiastic about waving good-bye to Mickey Mouse. And, Mickey was saying things like, "now, I'll bet you're wondering if you took that picture in Toontown, or was it Fantasyland," or something like that, and "thanks for coming", the little kids were giggling and waving. One little girl help up her picture to show Mickey. I'm sure they all thought he was talking just to them. :lmao: Stroke of brilliance for whoever thought of it. :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness! Do they do this every night at closing in MK and Epcot? How have I never seen this? :furious: We were there in early January and were at Epcot and MK when they closed and never saw this. In all my years at Disney, I've never noticed this. Is this something that I've just not paid attention to? I want to see this so bad now.

I was there in August and didn't see it. I believe it's rather new. I just happened to walk out of the park about 45 minutes after Wishes, and there he was! I was just surprised because Mickey was actually speaking! (gasp!)

they've been doing that goodbye for awhile, it really is a nice touch. a couple of weeks ago I saw something I haven't seen in a long time. mickey and minnie just inside the turnstiles at the MK signing and taking pictures. :)

As you're leaving the park, we're usually standing up on the train station area that's over the right side breezeway...nearest the popcorn cart/City Hall side (if you've exited through the left breezeway/Exposition Hall side, you probably wouldn't have noticed us). Occassionally there's enough Cast to have us on both sides waving, but I think there's only one set of signs.
Goodnight Mickey is currently scheduled M-F 8:15pm and Sat 9:15pm (this changes occassionally) but generally it's after Wishes, as the Guests are leaving the park.
You can always check the schedule with City Hall during your visit :)

The Goodnight Mickey waving only happens on nights when the park closes around 8-9 pm. So during the summer and really busy times, it does not happen at all. Like someone else said, the people in training are the new college program people. The old program ended in the beginning of January and now all the new people are starting. That should be going on for a few more weeks, at least.

On the subject of trainees, we did notice a TON of CM's with their "earning my ears" ribbons on last week. We loved it, because we noticed they were trying really hard to be friendly and helpful (Not that the regular CM's weren't, it's just that you could tell the trainees were working "extra hard" to give good customer service.)!
Sigh! It was such a great trip! :mickeyjum
