We found nearly everything to be at least good to very good on our trip. We really liked the Crystal Palace, it was our favorite dinner.

There was one place that I would highly recommend you avoid.

I have spent several years as a kitchen manager, and I know that any place can have an off night. This was more than an off night. The menu at Captain Jack's at Downtown Disney is designed completely to be easy to 'prepare', and not for flavor what-so-ever. Please avoid wasting money/dining plan credits there. Everything was pre-packaged and put on a plate. I was embarrassed for whoever decided this was an acceptable practice. Our bill for 2 adults and 1 child was $75 for an entree, a chicken Ceaser, a kid's meal, one alcoholic beverage and one desert. None of the items should have sniffed a restaurant this expensive. I literally felt like they pulled everything out of a vending machine and threw it on our plates. (At least they microwaved my wife's meat in her pasta. Wish they would have heated up the 'grilled' chicken in my salad.)

It always amazes me how some people who run restaurants have no respect for food. They don't care about how it tastes or looks, they just want to sell it. They don't even have the basics down when it comes to cooking. Many chefs (or so-called chefs) should be ashamed of themselves. I felt that way when I had breakfast out a few times in Disney (there's no reason why a chef can't make good eggs or pancakes :sad2:)

Just earlier today I changed our Capn jack's ressie for the Cape May Cafe clambake..I;m glad I did after reading your post. Thanks for the headsup!:thumbsup2

That restaurant is gross. No polite way of saying it.

I remember being served the absolutely worst bowl of pasta ever. It was true mush. I sent it back... ordered something different, it was no better.

I honestly don't know how that place stays open.

Thank you for the review. I just canceled my ADR for Cap'n Jacks. Glad I found out before I paid for 9 dinners there, we were taking the whole family.

So true! It was bad in 2005, I forgot it was still there. We were one of 3 tables one late afternoon before Cirque. We had 2 hours and almost ran late to cirque. Sad, gross and overpriced!

Cap'n Jack's is the only TS restaurant at Downtown Disney that is owned and operated by Disney itself. (I'm pretty sure none of the CS restaurants are either, except the one inside Disney Quest.) For those who wonder how it stays open, that's how.
