Just back and all I can say about Soarin is WOW

We rode it twice last week. Fastpass at 11 am, got off and got another for 3:30. On our second flight, the stand by line was 2 hours.

This is a great ride. I did think the guy sitting next to me on the first ride was going to have a heat attack when we took off. He must have tried to grab my hand a dozen times in that first few seconds and he was a perfect stranger.

Our second flight we were in the 3rd row at the very end and I found that it wasn't as good. You could see the edges of the screen in your peripheral vision. That being said I would still ride it again.

Okay next question, would Soarin' be okay for a 4 yr old? She meets the height requirements and loves most rides.

We rode this 2 summers ago and my stepdaughter was 3 at the time. She just barely made the height requirement, but LOVED it! She still talks about it. I didn't find it scary at all and neither did my stepkids (3 and 6 at the time). They loved the orange grove (take a big whiff when you "fly" over it) and it was neat to see where we live from a bird's eye view (Tahoe). They also loved that they got to fly over their mother's ship (the USS Stennis) and called her as soon as we got back to the room to let her know they could see where she "lived".

We used a FP for the ride and are glad we did. Even with the FP, it was a wait of about 25-30 minutes (I think Soarin' had just opened so it was really packed). But it was worth the wait and we are looking forward to trying the one at WDW!

I have a 10 year old who does not like things like Honey I shrunk the audience or ITTBAB...he doesn't like the "real" effects...

Will Soarin be to intense for him? Opinions?

I really did not think that it was intense. The ride is like being on a hang glider only you are sitting. You have the feeling that you are up in the clouds and you kinda of dip and swerve, for lack of better words. There are no scary side effects or loud noises, it really was peaceful in a strange way

Soarin' is WOW!! At first I was hesistant to go on. I don't like thrill rides and I don't like heights that much, but I did real well on this ride. I had to close my eyes at the beginning, then later, I was okay and enjoyed the ride.

My daughter loves loves this ride!! She was making the "YIPPEEEE" sounds. She was enjoying it! Too bad we didnt' get the change to ride it twice. We did Epcot in the morning. The line wasn't too bad, but later that day... the line was awefully looooong. We were going to do it again with the FP, but we ended up leaving Epcot.

Hi Helen:

I also get motion sickness, well really migraine headaches triggered by motion sickness.

Did you feel dizzy looking at water scenes, or at anytime, also is it claustrophobic feeling?

Thanks,

Deb.

p.s. would really like to try it.

No, there are no drops or fast lift offs - it's like a big IMAX theatre, where the seats are actually lifted and gently moving (tilting, etc.). It is the smoothest ride there, imho.

It was a pretty good attraction. We went on an EE day, and went straight there. Even then, I think we ended up waiting 20-30 minutes to actually get on the ride. I could not BELIEVE the line when we were walking out. Fastpass or first thing is the way to go.

helenk, I am going to agree with everything you said. Soarin was awesome. It was so good that I have talked my parents into driving from Ormond Beach tomorrow to go try it out. I loved it. To me, it was the best thing at WDW. Better than the rollercoasters, the shows, or anything else. I could ride it everyday.

Being a CA girl, we have had Soarin' for a few years. We're going to WDW in 2 months, and I can't wait to ride it there, too! For all of you who haven't ridden it yet, here's some fun things to look for when riding it. When you're 'flying' over the orange groves, note the scent that is pumped into the room. Also, when you fly over the pine trees, keep your nose 'open' again! :rotfl2: Then, toward the end, at the golf course....after the man hits the golf ball, look VERY CAREFULLY at it as it approaches you. If you're quick, you'll see a Hidden Mickey on the golf ball! :jumping1:

Enjoy!~

I was too busy closing my eyes! LOL, I will keep at look out when we go in
December.

I did not feel claustrophobic at all, but I took dramamine in the morning to avoid the motion sickness. I

I have terrible motion sickness but wanted desparately to ride Soarin. Took dramamine and was fine!!! It was an awesome experience, I was blown away by the sheer beatuy and grandeaur of California. And yes, people clapped at the end.

Can someone explain the mechanics of the ride. It seemed like we were "stacked" one row above the other. I think my row was somewhere in the middle, as I could see the feet above me. However, i don;lt think there are any bad rows or seats for this ride. Wait time was 80 minutes stand bye, FP was maybe 10-12 minutes. The wait line is a snore though, nothing to see at all.

the best ride i have been on in years. i am a bit scared of hights so this was a leap of faith for me. i rode this with my DS#2 because he wanted me to go with him. well i was a bit nervous as we started but when we came through the clouds and was over the golden gate bridge i was terrified but i was loving this ride. well i had to get a fastpass and ride it again and it was even more awesome the second time around and since i was more relaxed and was totally blown away by this fantastic ride. has become my personal favorite at Epcot.

a definite must do
