Just back from a 2 day, whirlwind, 4 park tour! It was wonderful and Expedition Everest is AMAZING! LOVED IT! My new favorite ride!

No lines at all and we walked on almost all of the headliner rides!

What/who is that talking, rolling, dancing palm plant outside of DAK before opening? I had not heard a thing about it and it was funny! It was all decked out for the holidays too!

Talking, rolling....
most likely it is the 'talking' remote controlled palm tree. (similar to the talking trash can).
it was outside the AK entrance every morning we went last trip.

I think his name is Wes Palm -- something like that. He's crazy and a lot of fun. Very entertaining for the little ones too!

It wasn't DeVine...She is a beautiful (and human) ivy covered costume on stilts. Stunning grace, and is always with a handler who will answer questions about her.

The thing you saw was Wes Palm, I think. Hysterical remote control device that can interact with the crowd. We saw him and he was outside the gate asking how much a one day pass was for a palm tree. It was really funny. It's a puzzle as to how they pull it off, as there is no one obviously nearby.

SPOILER ANSWER AHEAD:




The operator is always somewhere nearby. He has to stay within earshot of it to be able to interact with the people. Usually, he is wearing a hat, and has his hand in a shoulder bag (where I believe the controls are). The operator usually has his hand over his mouth, palming the microphone.
Once you spot him the first time, you always know who to be looking for.

It is quite an entertaining gizmo.

Everest is my new favorite too!! I rode it last Monday and I'm still excited about it!

We saw Wes Palm too-very cute and the kids really get a kick out of him.
