Just Back! A few thoughts...

So many people rave about NBA city. I am going to definitely try it next vacation.

We loved it! DH wanted to eat there every meal. Our server, Angel was so nice... he didn't even kick us out when we told him we were rooting for the MAVS!! LOL!

NBA City surprised us the one time we ate there too as did the Nascar Cafe. You just never know I guess.

I'm glad that you had fun. We love Universal.

One thing I didn't add in m original post. I had a really hard time at the Blue Man Group show. I'm have a sensitivity to strobes, lasers, lighting effects, etc. And this was a very tough show for me. I became nauseated and dizzy, got cotton mouth, tingly, etc. The boys loved the show and I felt like a real downer, but i should have known better. I can take effects in small doses but 1.5 hours was just too much for me. Just thought I'd put that out there for people with neurological problems like me.

Thank you for letting me know this. We were considering Blue Man Group on our next visit but I, like you, am very sensitive to strobes, etc. Perhaps I shall let the rest go while I relax, maybe with a massage?? :)

Thanks for the info, AustinTink. My 13yo nephew and I are headed there on Thursday, primarily for WWoHP, and so your comments were timely for us. Just one thing:
Be there by 7:30 and touring the WWoHP will be a breeze.
IOA's "summer hours" are 8 am - 9 pm starting this Friday, June 17 (our first day in the parks) so early entry is at 7 am. I'm thinking we'll be at the rope by 6:15 am as my nephew is determined to be in the first group for Ollivander's. I've heard mixed reviews about the show, but nephew has a collection of HP wands so Ollivander's is a "must do."

Strobes and extreme flashing lights were used throughout the show. I vote for the massage! I wish I had chosen that option.

I bet you'll be ok with 6:30. Give yourself 15 extra minutes of sleep!

My DH just reminded me of something. When we were at Mythos, there was a ginormous cockroach crawling under our table. I shrugged it off, but it really grossed him out. We told the waiter and he seemed disinterested. Just an FYI.

The food:

We ate ALL OVER I'll break them up by location...

NBA CITY... the surprise meal of the trip... was FANTASTIC. Great service, fun atmosphere and the food was YUM. I had the grilled chicken ceasar, DH had the Blue Cheese and wine reduction fillet Mignon.... amazing!!! and DS had a pizza... also very good. The dessert is not to be missed.... battered and fried cinnamon sugar strawberries with ice cream and two sauces. HOLY MOLY was that delicious!!

I couldn't agree more NBA City is my favorite restaurant in Citywalk!!!!

i have been eating at NBA city since it first opened.
(and still do)

great menu
great atmosphere
great everything!

No words can describe the heat in Orlando during the summer. But I'll try... melting, burning, stifling, thick, muggy, spontaneous combustion, miserable, unreal...... I could go on and on. I come from a city where 100 degrees temps are not uncommon, but this was altogether different. Humid without a hint of a breeze will kill ya! We always visit Orlando in the springtime. This was our first summer visit..... and our last! We will definitely return to Universal (and, of course Disney) but from now on it's Springtime or bust! Head out early in the morning and come back to the parks at night. That's all you can do to stay alive!

All in all a wonderful trip. WE are Universal converts!!! Look out Disney.... you've got some competition!

Welcome to the darkside.

I hear they are saving energy this summer by frying all the foods outside on the cement. I think it is a lovely idea and it might add some flavor to those bland meals. :rotfl2: I crack myself up!

Anywho! Welcome welcome! Glad you had a great time! Can't wait to hear from you in a few days when you start planning your next! ;)

Probably a Palmetto bug. They are gross but seem to be inevitable in that area.

Hey...that's our state bug! :rotfl:

Palmetto bugs are everywhere...all year...and its extremely hard to avoid them. It's just a fact of life here in sunny Florida. ;)

I didn't comment cause I couldn't remember the name of the bug but knew it wasn't a cockroach and same way here where I live cause we get water bugs bad and people mistake them for cockroaches :thumbsup2
