Just back 7/10 to 7/12

OP, I dont' think anyone is trying to burn you on a cross. We are happy to read a trip report, whether good or bad. With that being said, some of the generalizations and knocks on a place we all love will get a little bit of backlash. Are we sorry you didn't have a good time, yes. Had you had more time would you have researched/posted and asked questions, who knows. If you had posted a similar report on a Disney Park, the comments would be much worse than you received here......

Hopefully you WILL return to US/IOA but with a more "planned out" trip so you can enjoy all that the resort has to offer!

You say you left home on Monday? You say you were in Tampa? Where did you book the Fla res with tickets from? You arrived at the Royal Pacific on Tuesday? Was your husbands business trip over a weekend? But you said you left HOME on monday? Earlier you said he had a business trip in the area and you decided to stay IN ORLANDO a few days more? I live in Florida also and have lots of friends in Orlando- they were at Citywalk eating at Margritaville on Tuesday night - said they had no problem getting a table- maybe a 10-15 minute wait at best.
And you saw a rat at RPR? What did you expect- being from Florida you should know that is nothing unusual- I have seen plenty of rats at Disney- also alligators and snakes and palmetto bugs too - you know - the large bugs common to our state that get up to 3 or 4 inches long and can fly. The last stay I had at the Poly they had to come and remove a water moccassin from our patio..but I degress......

Sunday night I called the toll free number for Universal. Told them I was a FL resident and wanted to arrive on Tuesday night and leave Thursday. No problem, booked a room at Royal Pacific for 2 nights with 2 adult ONE day TWO park tickets and City Walk passes for $552. Ok SHOOT me because I typed "stay in the Orlando area" instead of head up to the Orlando area...I will stand in the corner and if you would like to rap my knuckles go ahead

We left for DH meeting in Tampa at Monday at 6 am and left Tampa at 6pm ish on Tuesday putting us in Universal around 7ish that same night. We headed to City Walk around 8ish. The dining room area said an hour or more wait but told us we can walk into the bar and find a high top table which is what we did.

Yes we saw a rat, it was gross. We did not see any bugs tho....

MicNic :
next time you go to universal for a stay, buy the items separately.
the package deals usually cost more when you don't.
you can get the fl discounts still when doing it that way.

i have been doing the mouse since 1973 and the darkside since 1993.
doing both parks this fall again.

I thought I was getting a good deal!

don't panic, you might have received the best deal.

i only use the AAA discount or PAP discount or MC specials, and super savers.

from what i have read on line, some of the floridian rates are very good and can beat what i have discounts for.

i have done packages only 3 times out of 17 stays.
i did the packages that were offered to MC holders and it did beat doing everyhing separately.

when i used to buy promo passes for us, i would use the discounts for the hotel stay.
each previsit, i break down what is available and which way i can get it cheapest, I'm in orlando for 14 nights/15 days so i try to cut corners as best i can.

next trip, break down each cost and see how you can take advantage of the best deal.

there is a coupon website for florida and it has a good amount of printable coupons for the orlando area.

i have read posts where some people have received a room rate for #125 a night. of course the discount and date make a difference on when this can be snagged.
