Surprised kids with three days in WDW on the end of a beach trip to Lido Key. Stayed at POFQ, which as always was great.

We had two park days. Day 1 we did MK rope drop. First time since the welcome show change to the front of the castle. I haven't decided how I feel about this yet. We didn't have FP for MK but were able to ride Splash, BTMR, POTC, Magic Carpets, Under the Sea and saw Philharmagic for the first time. Took a midday break at resort then off to AK.

Hit a pandora first. Wow. Visually amazing. Had a FP for Flights of Passage which was fantastic. Liked it so much we did standby later that evening. Also rode EE ( 4 times, one time in the rainy darkness), Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl. Enjoyed adult beverages walking through Asia.

Day 2 slept in then hit Epcot. Rode Soarin standby, then lunch at Via Napoli. DH left after lunch to go nap and kids and I rode Frozen and Test Track standby. Headed back to resort to rest when the skies opened up. Thunder, lightening and hail. Thought evening plans would be scrapped and went ahead and ate CS at resort to wait it out. Thankfully it let up around 6 and we made it to MK for our Space Mountain FP. Then rode Teacups and Splash, which broke down while we were in that tight corridor right before boarding, resulting in us missing the nighttime show. Next time! After Splash headed to BRMRR for our fast pass but it was shut down so we called it a day.

Enjoyed our short trip but we are taking a Disney break for a few years. We've been 5 times in past three years and are ready for something different. Also need to give our bank account a break. We spent 4 days at the beach before we hit Disney and spent a third of what we spent for 3 days in Disney. The cost of food and drinks in the World is staggering to me these days for the quality. Maybe after a 2 year break or so I won't be as aggravated by it. But all in all still good memories.

Welcome home!

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had fun overall. :)

Oh and a few more observations- was prepared for crazy crowds and it wasn't that bad! It was very HOT and humid but if you are prepared and drink plenty of water it's ok.

Guest behavior was hit and miss. Saw a few large tour groups who were very polite and respectful. Sat behind a woman on POTC who took flash photos the entire ride. Waiting in FP line at Space Mountain to scan magic bands and had a woman push in front of the guest in front of us with four other people. Literally push with her hands. 50+ year old woman with both adult and younger kids. DH was all puffed up about to speak up when the woman in front of us told the woman to hit the back of the line. Woman threw a fit saying she would miss her FP window. So I guess shoving people out of the way for your lack of planning is ok? I'm amazed at people sometimes. It ended with her shouting "I guess we just skip the ride then!!" Wow.

:sad2:

I would have said, "Good idea," but probably under my breath.
