Just returned last night after 4 disney days. Took my sister-in-law and her two kids
which made it more fun watching their reaction to it all. My husband and two of my
kids also went. We drove from houston to disney. Will make this my last drive trip
been doing it since 1978, will fly from now on. getting too old for the long road trip!!
Saturday, Nov 17th stayed at all star sports in surfs up, perfect location, close to the
food court and buses. Our light was out at the front door called and they came
within an hour and put a new one in. My sister-in-laws room had a hugh water
spot in the carpet, an ice chest i'm sure. called and they took care of it the next
morning.
Sunday, Nov 18th - went to Epcot at opening, it took about 10 minutes to have
bags checked and to get in, we already had our tickets.
The park was not too busy, longest wait was 30 minutes
at test trac, we ate at the Garden Grill, very good. My kids
didn't like the mac and cheese, I told them that was because
sadly they are use to artificial cheese like kraft mac and cheese.
Oh almost forgot the longest wait was an hour for the boat
ride in the land? go figure that one is never crowded, we tried
different times of the day and could never get on. I think they
had a fast pass for it which i guess we should have done but
we kept thinking the line would die down.
After lunch we went to MGM and did our favorites rides.
Line waits were 10 minutes on most. ok this part is going
to get really gross. we went on HISTA, when we came out my
8 yr old sons nose swelled on both sides and he had a real
small red mark, size of a pimple on one side. Nothing was there
before the ride. I kept a close eye on it, within in hours the
swelling went down but the red mark turned into a really
gross sore, it kept growing to about an inch by 1/2 an inch
and started oozing. it took the first layer of skin off his nose.
It reminded me of the skin eating disease. By the end of the day
it stopped oozing and started drying up. sorry i know this is gross
but it was kind of scary. I told my husband if it got any larger
we were going to a clinic. It will probably leave a scar but it is
healing. it didn't itch or hurt him in anyway? I can only assume
someone had an infection and he picked it up from the 3d glasses.
Monday, Nov 19 went to IOA, pretty dead, no waits on rides, longest wait was
30 minutes for spiderman, my favorite ride there. Ate at Mythos
very very good I had the pad thai, my husband had ribs but
didn't care much for them. The place was empty but the service
was pretty bad. We had to keep getting up to find our waiter
for drink refills, extra bread, etc. Since we were a large group
we had to sit in an area where we weren't seen too easily.
Would still go back since the food was so good. After IOA
we headed to MK. It was open til 10 and was very crowded.
I enjoyed the electrical light parade but really liked the one
from two yrs ago much more but this one is still worth seeing.
Like always fantasyland very busy but not bad lines for all
other rides. Restrooms and park was cleaned overall but at the
peter pan ride where you wait in line. the trash can was spilling
out and everyone had no choice but to throw their snack
wrappers on the ground. dont know why this was missed.
Tues, Nov 20 went back to MK. thought since they closed early it wouldnt be crowded
It was pretty crowded but we still managed to do all that we wanted
to do, some things we skipped just too crowded. We had ressies at
Bomas for 8:45 but didn't get seated until 9:15, the place was packed!!
very loud very noisy, food was really good but not what i expected.
I had read so much on the board about alot to choose from and spicy.
I didn't find anything very spicy? but then again i'm from houston and
I think spicy here is different than other states? i'm use to eating at
indian cuisines which are very very spicy. not much veggies to choose
from, they had roasted chicken and sliced prime rib. the soups were
good. I was hoping for a big variety in spicy veggies. our waiter told
us that the menu changes daily and I figured since it was so late maybe
they dont offer as much at night?
wed, Nov 21 Had breakfast at Donalds, had a great waiter named Bill and the food
was good. especially liked the omelet with onions and bell peppers.
Did a couple of things in animal kingdom, no wait for bugs life or
dinosaur but the park was getting crowded when we left at noon.
we headed to MGM, got there at 12:30 and the lines were like summer
everything was an hour wait. muppet show an hour wait. got to the
indianna jones show 20 minutes ahead of showing, already sold out
next showing was in two hrs!! That really made me mad. lines were so
bad but the shows were 2 hrs apart!! we tried the back lot tour
an hour wait no fast pass, we gave up and headed for home. alot of
people left when we did , 2 or 2:30. one lady was hollering, what
a waste what did we come here for? you couldn't move the crowds
were so bad and the park was staying open til 6 or 7?
I fell really sorry for all those who are coming for the thanksgiving
weekend, and i'm sure alot are coming because they heard disney
was hurting for business. We were lucky to be there sun-tues
when it was still manageable but crowded. and i'm sure MK was
alot worse than MGM on wed.
bus service from all star sports was very good, hardly waited.
the pool is suppose to be heated but was barely heated.
our mattress was pretty bad, i guess we could have changed
rooms but we had connecting rooms so that would have been
a problem. also bus systems out of parks was very good.
saw and heard more angry people this year. small bickering.
like people smoking in the lines and others asking them not to
and others getting involved that was involved to begin with!!
when we ate at pecos bill cafe at MK on tues had a tough time
finding a table.
we really enjoyed the first 3 days but the 4th day was just horrible.
the only place that we were able to ride the same ride over and over
was IOA. al disney parks even sun-wed we could only get on once.
also glad we brought stuff for breakfast the food courts were very
crowded in the mornings and after the parks closed.
some parks if you dont have bags for security to check you can go
around and get in if you already have your ticket. some parks
the tables weren't spread out enough so you still couldn't get
around the tables where the bags were checked. some are
checking very close and some not at all. my husband said dont
you want to check this area of my bags, the security said oh yes.
but overall most were checking very close. the only difference
i noticed in the cm's is that some were just there doing their
jobs not all the joking around that they use to do. had one lively
bus driver that talked to everyone on the bus. said they were adding
100 plus more buses and also said that pop century would be
completed this summer. i'm sure after this weekend the parks
will be back to empty again but they usually are empty when
the kids are out of school so i still dont understand all the lay offs.
also when we drove to Bomas had trouble finding a parking spot.
If and when we go back i will stay at AKL, we went out on the
savannah after dinner and saw giraffes and other animals right there
by the private balconies. wow!! that was beautiful.
