Well, we just returned last night from our 1st trip "home" to SSR. I was a little dubious about this resort because of the negative comments I have read. Needless to say, I was not disappointed at all -we LOVED  this resort !

Artist Palette - ate breakfast there every morning anf the food was great.

Room was clean and ready @ around 2:00 pm. No big deal because we went straight to the parks. We could have checked in upon arrival but I really wanted a room in the Springs section.

Bus service - no problems except when we went to Downtown Disney. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the bus to take us back to the hotel. We were going to walk back but I was unsure how to get to the path to SSR.

I will definitely be staying there again ! :Pinkbounc

YEA!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
Glad you had a great stay!
Thanks for the great post!

Congrats on your first trip! We always enjoy our stays at DVC and enjoyed SSR when we stayed there in 2004.

I remember when BCV first opened in 2002, there was a ton of negative reviews but I never had a problem.

Good luck in planning your next trip. :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed your first trip home. Yes next time take the walk back from DTD, so much quicker and its a pretty walk.

Glad to hear you had a lovely time. I'm not going to get to try it until next year

How was Earls?

We did not try it - unfortunately my husband and I are on a low carb diet so Earl's was out of the question. Hopefully I can try it on our trip scheduled in October. :)

We too just got back from SSR and absolutely loved it. So much so we have opted out of staying a 5 star resort for a conference in May in Orlando and will be back at SSR with hubby commuting to the conference.
Stayed in Congress Park section. Travelled with 2 17 y/o's and frankly preferred the quiet pool. Quick and easy walk(10 mins or less) to DDT. Enjoyed the fitness facilities and daily strolls around the complex. Personally I'm beginning to think the number of complaints about the walk is a result of our harried, instant gratification lives. The buses to the park were running on a timely fashion when we were there and the girls were able to come and go as they pleased. DH and I took the ferry one night to OKW for dinner at Olivia's. This was probably the most relaxing trip to Disney we have had(could have something to do with kids getting older) and we drove 2200 km each way.
Food was great and we didn't mind the limited venues at SSR as we like to experience different restaurants when on vacation.
SSR is a beautiful resort and as the vegetation matures will be even more so. Although it's not sitting right next to one of the theme parks, we enjoyed being able to get away from the massess and relaxing.

I'm very glad that you enjoyed your trip.

Another satisfied customer. I really am getting excited for our trip to get here. Thanks for posting your positive review!

I am really glad you had a good time on your trip. Sounds like it was fun.

We are going to stay at SSR (our home resort) in May for 8 nights. This will be our first trip at SSR. Although I have to admit it can be hard not to be shaken by the negative comments, I am not worried about the resort or our upcoming stay there. I'm always so thankful to just be in Florida that I cant imagine not having a nice trip. :)

:cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1:

see, you can't believe everything you read on the DIS. Some people just like to bash :teeth:

congrats on a wonderful trip! i'm not surprised - SSR is so beautiful! so glad you had a wonderful time :)
