Just Arrived, Triple Dipping

My family stayed for a week in mid-November. We had very clean rooms, mouse keeping came everyday and was very thorough. We had no problems like what you have reported. I am not saying this didn't happen to you, just reporting out experience. I would have been more than mad had that been my experience and would have been stomping my feet at the front desk for sure!

The "skippy" was because you got so snippy when mesaboy asked if you actually went to the front desk, and you got all up in arms. He was merely asking if you actually went down to the front desk as opposed to calling the front desk. What people have been trying to tell you is that if you call the front desk, you don't get the front desk...you get a call center. Mesaboy wasn't accusing you of anything, but you took it the wrong way and got defensive and nasty with him.
Everyone...step away from your keyboards.

Why do people say this? Is this a fact or just what most people assume to be the case?

I've called the front desk several times, and I've even gotten a name (twice) of someone there so I could go down in person and talk to them, and sure enough, that person was down there.

Is this something new? Is it at all the resorts?

This is not news. Why do people keep posting this? You could pull FPs with old room keys and practically anything with a magnetic strip months ago. They don't seem to have changed it, but the legacy fastpass machines are on their way out soon. Who cares? :confused3

I care. Here now and the folks double and triple dipping are at the least doubling my wait times, it is maddening. If I could I would too.

When you call the "front desk" at any resort, you get a call center.

Calls go to a central call center, and I'm sure they have the names of the staff currently at the desk...

Fair enough.

When you call the "front desk" at any resort, you get a call center.

Yes. I'm not really doubting either of you, but I guess I'm just looking for a little bit more "proof" that this is fact other than people on the internet just saying that it's so.

CM's on the board have verified the info. You're welcome to look for it if you don't believe us. :)

Let's not let the chronology get in the way. I had earlier said I went to the front desk. What reason would Mesa have to question if I had actually done so, apart from being accusatory? In any case I wasn't being snippy. I simply wanted to know what he meant by it.

Quick question... When you reported it, did you call the front desk or go down to the front desk?

Front desk. Why?

The PP was asking if you called the front desk or went to the front desk. If you actually went to the front desk, you would possibly have gotten a more satisfactory response.

Thank you patty57, this exactly. :goodvibes

Read the second quote above, in response to Missyrose's question. Does it answer Missyrose's question?

I was merely leading you to the idea, as Missyrose was doing, that calling the front desk can be quite different than going to the front desk, which again your answer doesn't actually answer. That wasn't in the slightest accusatory, anymore than your response wasn't snippy.

I am sorry your POR experience was less than good, that would annoy me too. I've stayed there a number of times and have always been happy. I think that can happen at any onsite hotel, in fact any hotel anywhere. Kaka occurs. I hope the rest of your vacation goes better. :thumbsup2

No you didn't. Someone asked if you called or went to the front desk. Your exact answer was "front desk, why?".

I must be the mesaboy cheerleader today. He is one of the most helpful people on this board, and I don't think I've ever seen him accuse anyone of anything. I don't see where you said you went to the front desk before he asked you about it. Someone else asked you if you went to the front desk, or called the front desk. Your response was "front desk". I didn't know what that meant, and mesaboy probably didn't either.
Oops...see I'm a little late with this. Others beat me to it.
I'm totally not trying to get into any kind of dispute with you about this thread. I'll just tell you that your response to him did look pretty snippy. Maybe you didn't mean it that way.

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far. I have my moments. ;)

But in this case, no. Just trying to help get an answer to a PP's question that may be relevant to the situation.

I just got back and noticed the following:

Old keys no longer work...

I had a split stay and ended up with 3 room keys by the 8th day of our vacation and was able to pull from all 3 keys plus our tickets...

walked up to Tower of Terror at 9:05 and new fast passes had a 9:05 return time. I pulled a set of FPs and saw that the next FP was available immediately. I was able to walk to the next next machine and pull another set. I was able to do this at each machine. I was able to replicate this at Star Tours the next day....

I had a problem with a paper fast pass and tried to bring it to the attention of Guest Services... I was told that since we had magic bands, we were not allowed to pull paper fast passes. When I questioned why they keys still worked, I was told that "only greedy jerks" would pull paper fast passes. Needless to say I was shocked and complained further up. This was backed by two more CMs, so I just walked away...Formal complaint letter is following....

This sounds like an all-too-common experience at Disney these days. They could have explained it better without resorting to the name calling.

Wow. That is stunning. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if a CM said that to me. I'm confused about the old tickets though. You said they no longer work, but that you did pull FP with them. Did you mean to say they still work, or am I not getting something?
