I have a reservation for California Grill for my birthday. It's one of our favorite Disney restaurants, and the view of the fireworks is amazing. However, since our last visit to WDW, I have had gastric sleeve surgery and simply cannot eat much at one sitting; my quantity is limited to less than a cup of food. Will they have an issue if I order just an appetizer and an "adult beverage" as my meal? DH will have a full dinner, of course, but I'm worried about ordering just an appetizer for myself.

As a spin-off, would it be an issue if we did "Around the Kingdom" dining? We are thinking of maybe hitting several monorail restaurants and doing drinks at the bar at one place, then appetizers (and another drink) at a second restaurant, and then desserts (and another drink) at a third restaurant. Yes, we'll take the Disney bus back to our resort (and have a pool-side nightcap?)! Has anyone done this? I still think DH is going to want a full meal somewhere along the way, but this is what we are kicking around right now for my birthday celebration.

You can certainly order an appetizer and drink at California Grill! Some of the lounges are great for food too - best thing to do is check out the menus:

you could also do the same thing going around the boardwalk -- Crew's Cup is a favorite of ours!

I'm so glad you asked this. I was sleeved two years ago & this will be our first time at Cali Grill. I remember a thread on another board where a person was chastised for ordering an appetizer at a signature restaurant. It was ridiculous.

I plan to consume my adult beverage first (you know how that goes) and then enjoy what i can. I'm certain DH will more than make up for what I can't eat, lol.
