I hope that the podcast team, in planning future podcast trips, will remember that the July trip sold out first. I am really wanting to join the podcast cruise in December but work and daughter's school schedule make it impossible. There are probably quite a few of us out there who can't take off while kids are in school. I have been a podcast listener for more than two years and I am green with envy of all of those people who join the podcast crew on cruises and ABD adventures. I wish I had been able to book the sold out trip but I have conflicting plans. I hope that when I retire I am able to join the podcast crew on all their adventures!

I have a feeling that there will be a July or summer Podcast cruise some day, but it will be more expensive because of the season.

There is a very fine line we walk when planning Podcast trips.

A while back we took a survey asking people what mattered most when deciding on participating in a Podcast event and the OVERWHELMING answer was price.

Booking a cruise in July would almost double the cost for participants. We can accommodate the most people by booking "off season".

There is also the issue of availability. Many of our guests booked the less expensive tiered staterooms (again, cost being the deciding factor). These are available in mid December and they arent in July.

When choosing the ABD trips, all three dates were chosen to coincide with school vacations. We still havent pleased everyone. As you yourself have said, other bthings get in the way.

We just want you to know that we always try to be mindful of what will be possible for the largest number of guests.

Thank you Kevin, as a teacher myself I thank you for taking that into consideration. Unfortunately for us, the price of the ABD trip just didn't work for us this time, but if for some reason a cruise would work so we could cruise with the podcast crew and all of our dis friends in the summer months that would be AWESOME! I hope you guys have a wonderful time, all of the trips sound incredible! Thanks for all you do!:thumbsup2

Oh I totally agree with all of that. I remember the poll. Just wishful thinking......

Just a thought - for teachers, students, and people who don't mind the heat, maybe the DIS could do a summer mini-meet on WDW property?

They did, it was on June 26th at the Poly lounge :goodvibes:thumbsup2

Yes, I think that is what I was thinking of.

Guess they need to do it next year, too.

Or, maybe a "meet of the month" like Lou Mongello does. :confused3

It seems to me that there was a Chicago meet, there's an Indy meet, there Is a thread about a NC meet, there is a monorail drink meet, there's a Hershey meet, there is a meet for past ABDers, there is an F&W opening weekend meet, there is a DATW meet, there is an 800 person podcast cruise meet, there are 3 ABD trips...

Gosh...that's 12 in the next twelve months.

I don't know.....it seems like we're up there with Lou Mongello....dontcha think?

I think the coolest thing about the DIS community is the number of "do-it-yourself" (if that is the right term) meets there are that are started by community members rather than the DIS leaders. And the fact that the meets go to places other than WDW.

Don't forget several Christmas Carol train meets!

:goodvibesThere are plenty of meets and hopefully one will be happening sometime when we're there. :goodvibes

I really impressed by the people (Dissers, podcast members) who take on the task of organizing the various meets. I applaud you and thank you!!!

I did the June meet and had a great time. DD did not want to meet my "Internet friends" so I had to bounce from the meet to entertaining her. I was a little nervous beforehand but the people could not have been nicer. Got to see John and Kevin (really nice people) and am sorry I missed the rest of the Dis team that was there. I did have a long conversation with Bob's wife Diana and she is a sweet person.

If you have a chance for a gathering do it. Lot of fun and you get to interact with fellow Disney geeks (geeks is meant in the most flattering term).

I think the DIS needs to do what the DIS does best and other podcasters do what they do best. I love the DIS for what it is and wouldn't want it to become like other podcast teams (not that they ever would). Kind of similar to our feelings on recent Disney merchandise, we don't want the same thing out of each venue. Love y'all! :lovestruc

I still wish the summer 2010 Carnival/Universal cruise had sailed.

Also wish I could do the ABD tour, but that price is :scared1: Darn house payment and kids get in the way. :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Good golly! You have more dates than the Jonas Brothers tour!!! (not that all those are a bad thing) It wore me out reading them all.

There was also a Toy Story 3 IMAX meet up here in New England :)!

I'm hoping to make England and France if you go...

& I think we could run over Lou Mongello on the way to get the chocolate mousse in France... (after stopping off for a Grey Goose Slushie... ;))
