Just an observance: fashionable vs. comfortable

Since I've begun checking out these boards, I've notice that most people will choose comfort to fashion in footwear (some of the footwear is plain ugly IMHO); but lot of people will say "NO WAY will I use a fanny pack, it's so out of fashion!".

Just thought that was interesting. :earboy2:

It's true...but to each his/her own. Personally, I do wear those shoes you're probably thing of...CROCS. They are the best shoes I've found for me. I also opt for a small backpack...those shoe bag sized ones and keep my camera in it's bag around my waist...just a matter of comfort on all three. I'm way past the impressing people stage of life...I really prefer to be comfortable.

Yup, I'm past that too! I'm usually a fashionista except when I need to be comfortable! It's comfy shoes and a hand's free fanny pack! I figure I don't know anyone and nobody knows me, plus I have bad feet. :teeth:

I dont think you have to sacrifice comfort for style, either..

I wear my New Balance to Disney...as well as here at home. I carry my old eastpack backpack from college, I find it just as convenient as a fanny pack.

Disney is not the place for fashion statements but a place for comfort!!!!!

Funny some prefers tennis shoes for walking others sandels and yet others flip flops tho goes to show each one of us has to find our own comfort zone.

Same with the backpacks and fanny packs myself I found pockets worked well and no bag to check.

I don't see how you do it with just pockets! Whenever I try they end up full and bulging out. lol. Not cute. Some people have no problem. I am a bit high mantinence though.

I try to look nice even while I'm on vacation. (lot's of picture taking going on.) I don't go overboard though. I'm happy with a plan skirt and shirt with Birkenstocks. I also view a backpack as a must have. It can be a pain though with some rides.

Man, this is one of the reasons I refuse to stay off-site. I don't know how y'all deal with having to carry stuff around with you.

If it can't be carried in my pocket (or on a lanyard around my shoulder), it ain't coming with me into the park.

I wear sneakers or my normal everyday shoes, because blisters are not fun things to have on a vacation. I suggest getting gel insoles if you insist on wearing "fashion wear", though. You'll be standing a LOT and walking a lot more than that - it's over 2 miles around the World Showcase.

All I carry with me into the park is my resort key (for charging), Driver's License (for getting carded), annual pass, and around $20 in cash (in case the charge machines go down.) Sometimes I have my Brita bottle in a Mickey soda bottle lanyard.

On the few occasions I bring in my camera or videocamera, I just attach it to my wrist and don't let go.

Oh, and then there's my cell phone. Permanently attached to my hip via holster. It's a Sidekick II, so it has a camera built into it as well, and the web, and I can IM my DH wherever he is on the resort without bothering anyone with my cell phone conversation.

For the rest of my wardrobe I'm free to dress however I want, since I'm not limited by a backpack or purse or specific shoes or an ugly hat or whatever.

You're most likely to see me in a pair of random sneakers with some FCUK or Lucky jeans and an argyle summer sweater than some tshirt and shorts.

I honestly never considered not having a backpack with me. I am staying in Disney, but I always feel like I need a lot of stuff.
What do you do with everything you buy? Isn't it easier to put it in a backback?

Maybe it's that shoes aren't immediately noticeable, but a fanny pack is?

I wear Teva sandals and carry a fanny pack hip to shoulder, messenger bag style, then when I go on a "thrill" ride, I tighten up the belt on the pack and put it around my waist, with the pack part off to the side or in the back, depending on the ride and how I need to sit. It always works for me.

I don't think either should be overlooked or have to decide comfort/look. Merrell makes some very cool flip flops that are very comfortable and can for days in them. However, if they are not stylish, I wouldn't consider them.

I feel the same way with capris, skorts, sun-dresses, etc.

I feel best when I look my best and am most comfortable. It can be achieved. :goodvibes
