First this is really, really late (computer problems :rolleyes: ) and second I'm not sure if this is a good place to put this, but here it goes.

On our trip in Feb (told ya' it was late!), on a very rainy day we ducked in to PotC to get out of the rain. My ds, 9, was the last one getting in the boat and his shoe fell off-right into the water!! There was no saving it-it was gone in a flash :earseek: Well the CM, who was laughing himself to tears, sent us on our way and it was not the best cruise we've ever had with the Pirates with ds extremely embarassed and upset at the notion of losing his shoes. We tried to console him, without much luck. When we got off the CM said that they would have maintenance look for it at the end of the day, but not to get our hopes up. So here we are in our rain ponchos, with one very distraught barefoot 9 yr old going through feeling like the entire world is laughing at him. We tried to find a pair of sandals in Adventureland, but without luck for his size. We then trekked up to the Main St Emporium where we found a pair of Buzz Lightyear tennis shoes. We lucked out - we paid for the shoes and the wonderful CM at checkout asked my ds what happened, when he explained to her she sent us straight to City Hall. Evidently, ds is not the first to have his shoes "misplaced" and they gave us a "NO STRINGS" coupon to take to the MS Emporium for a full refund of the shoes we bought :) !! I couldn't believe it!! On our last day ds wanted to ride PotC again- he thought it would be funny if the hairy legged pirate was wearing his shoe!! We now make endless jokes about it and he once again loves the Pirates. One last thing- my Mom, who was with us, made a planter out of the other shoe with Pirate decorations and a little sign that says "In memory of Lefty".

Sorry to make this so long-but I thought it might help someone else in the future.

Aw great story! Your poor ds being embarrassed... That is cool they gave you money for new shoes though, that's the Disney thing to do! That CM shouldn't have laughed about it though...

First, I'm glad everything worked out in the end! How wonderful that the CM at Main Street took the time to ask and give you the good news about being reimbursed! I love that you have the other shoe decorated - too clever!

However, being the mother of a 9yo ds, I fully sympathize with you on his embarrassment! My ds would have been horrified if a CM laughed at him like that!

I'm glad that the true Disney spirit was able to overcome one insensitive CM, and that your ds was able to look for and laugh about his shoe in the end.

That's a great story! I'm sorry that the CM was so immature tho, but I'm glad it all worked out in the end.

::yes::
