Ok - we are almost ready to pull the trigger - the ONLY thing holding us back is we really dont know if we will like AKV.

So - do you think if we make this our Home resort will we ever have any problems booking an October vacation with the 7 month window at a 1 bedroom at any of the other DVC resorts. We really liked SSR and wanted this to be our home resort - but we missed the window by a few months.

We thought about resale - but with the incentives offered by Disney right now - its pretty much a wash.

Please let us know if we will have a problem with the 7 month window for October ??

Thanks

October is food and wine month which means that Epcot resorts are in high demand, but that would not extend to AKV, so other than normal demand I would not expect AKV to be anymore crowded than the other non-epcot resorts.

You should not have problems reserving OKW or SSR at 7 months out for October. I did have problems with VWL 7 months out for Columbus Day weekend. On the other hand, I've reserved BC rooms at 5 months out for earlier in October and BWV 6 months out for later in October, so its certainly doable.

Have fun!

SSR and OKW are probably no problem. BCV & BWV may be more difficult.

While buying AKV resale is a wash, SSR points have dropped to as low as $75 so that is quite a bargain especially if that is what you really want. There is lots of inventory on SSR resale so it would not take long to find one you like.

I agree. If i wanted SSR, I would buy resale. That should also save you money in yearly maintenance fees as well.

There is a link at the top of this page that takes you to the DVC Resale Listings for The Timeshare Store, a board sponsor. There are a lot of SSR contracts for sale, at prices starting in the mid 70s. With resale you need to look carefully at the contract information to see how many points you would get (they vary from "loaded" with banked points, current-year points and all of next year's points available to "stripped" of all points up through the end of the next Use Year). Resale prices at SSR have come down recently so even factoring in closing costs and dues reimbursement to the seller, you would still come out way ahead of buying SSR directly from Disney.

What is pool like? Depth? Is it fairly large? Don't have much info except there will be an interactive area for younger children?

If someone buys AKV Kidani, their "home" resort is Kidani or are they combined AKV Jambo/Kidani..Another words, you have the 11 month opportunity to make a reservation at either Kidani or Jambo or just Kidani?
It will then depend on what is available to get Kidani if you want "newer" accomodations????? A little confused........

Still learning...Much thanks..........:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

I don't know much more about the pool than what you just posted. There will be both a pool and a water play area.

AKV consists of two buildings: Jambo House and Kidani Village. No matter whether your contract is tied to a Unit in Jambo House or Kidani Village, you own AKV and can book there 11 months out. Information on the public DVC website states that you will know at the time of booking which building you will be in and will go to that building to check in. I take that to mean that you will be able to request a specific building when you call to book your stay. If you book either a Value room or a Concierge room you won't have a choice of buildings because only Jambo House has those booking categories. Kidani will have only Standard View and Savanna View rooms.

From the DVC Member website:

Samawati Springs Pool
Cool off in this zero-entry pool that features a 128-ft. long water slide. Take relaxation to a whole new level in one of the two whirlpool spas near the main pool, or refresh at Maji Pool Bar.

Uwanja Camp
Climb elevated-rope bridges, dash through geyser jets, or relax in the waterfall lagoon or beneath the shade of the camp cabanas in this village playground themed as an animal observation site known as Uwanja Camp — uwanja means "play area." Explore three distinct zones in this children's interactive water-play area — the base camp, the departure zone and the observation station; each area has its own character and activities for age-specific groups.

Still not exact information -- but a general idea of what to expect.
