Does anyone else find it mildly amusing when people applaud at the end of some of the shows, say like a bugs life or the hall of presidents? Who are you applauding the animatronic figures? The CM's who lead you into and out of the theater? Is the creator of these shows secretly present and people are applauding them?

Kind of humorous when you stop and think about it but really just a little observation on human behavior! :rolleyes1

i've heard people applaude after a movie, same basic thing...i think it's a show of appreciation and not a bad thing.

Exactly it is simply how many people show their appreciation.

I, too, think it's appreciation for the collective creativity, whether they are present or not. Not strange to me at all.

Huh, yeah, never thought about it. That is pretty funny :rotfl: and I am very guilty.
But when I do think about it, I guess I'm applauding Disney and their ability to never cease to amaze me.
You shoulda seen me after I saw Philharmagic for the first time. I clapped so hard and long my hands were raw! I just couldn't believe what I had just seen. I just loved it so much!
Plus, in all honesty, I'm gonna go and say that when I'm in Disney I AM applauding the audioanimatroincs or characters or whatever, because don't they, in even the smallest way, seem sort of life like?
When you see Hall of Presidents, doesn't part of you wanna get up while clapping and shout "Great speech Mr.Lincoln! Bravo!"? Well, maybe not to that extreme, but, still.
:cheer2:

To me, I think of it as hey, thank you to whoever, for taking the time that you must have had to put in, to give us this entertainment, I enjoyed it.

I think if no one ever claps and people act like they don't really care, then it will be replaced.

Just my 2 cents...

i wonder if it's just Americans who don't. if you ever see a preformance of something from Europe they are all engaged instead of sitting like lumps. never really noticed who applaudes at wdw and who doesn't. might be interesting

I always thought it kinda odd that people clapped at the end of those kinds of shows. It's not the performers can here. I don't think that if people stopped clapping that they would close it, I think if people stopped going they would close it.

We went to Philharmagic in April and I swear we were the only ones in there that had ever been before. It was fun to hear the oohhs and aahhhs from everyone and the applause at the end. I get the warm fuzzies, it shows how much people enjoy the experience.

I clap because...

...I believe in fairies.

If I appreciate a show I've seen I clap at the end. I have never given it much thought before, just always something I've done, and will continue doing. It makes me feel good. :goodvibes

Nobody said it was a bad thing, just a little humorous perception of human behavior. It's kinda funny a couple of posts alluded to the same thing.

i didn't mean you were implying it's a bad thing just i meant i thought it was a good thing

I'm a clapper, too.
I've never thought about how it comes across to different people around me. Maybe it's the mom in me. When something exciting happens and there is a kid around - I clap and say things like, "Yea! Wasn't that fun?"
