I'm sure this is just a rumor.
but since the price of oil has got to be on everybody's mind it's kind of interesting to speculate on how it might affect Disney, too.
So far everything I've read has been saying that bookings at WDW were still strong, mainly because they have so many more value and moderate resorts now as opposed to the last time there was a downturn in the economy. Also the extremely weak dollar is making it attractive to foreign travelers. I suppose if oil prices keep increasing, that may not hold up though. Still, it may mean more incentives from Disney if you can afford to get there.
I wouldn't mind if they extended free dining into the fall or early Christmas season (as the article suggests they may be looking at), but closing DHS or DAK one day a week seems like it would just increase the crowds at the other parks. Actually, I'd probably prefer that to shorter operating hours at all the parks, though. One of the things I dislike about going in the off-off season is that they close the parks so early. Even with lower crowds I feel like we get cheated when we don't get those late nights at the parks.
It's an interesting read not sure how much fact there is, but I'm interested in what the DIS community thinks...
