Just a random thought on High School. I was just thinking if all us Disboarders were magically transformed back into our 15 year old selves and all enrolled in the same high school in today's era for freshman year, do you think most of us would have been genuine friends with each other? Or do you think high school politics/hierarchy would have prevented that? Just thought this would be an interesting thread. 🤔 Have fun with the thread. 😊 🏫 📚 ✏️ 🖊 🎒 🍱

No way to tell. What I know about people here is one dimensional. An opinion expressed here is flat and without life. Body language and tone of voice has a huge impact on how a message is received, and how a person interacts in real life.

What do you think, @Buzz Rules ?
I would like to think we would all be friends in high school for the most part. Obviously, we each would have our favorite clubs and activities but I would like to believe none of us would genuinely try to exclude each other from the social group/lunch table. 🤷‍♂️

I graduated from Bronx HS of Science aka Nerds Central. No sports teams to speak of but a kick butt chess team; debate team tryouts not cheerleading. I don’t remember if there was a school sanctioned prom but I do know I knew no one who went. It was a lot different from what I hear others experienced in high school.

Now back to the initial question: My mind was open and interested in talking to all sorts of people back then so it’s quite possible.

Stuy here...we definitely did NOT have the typical HS experience!

but what percentage of 'us' would avoid clubs and activities let alone never dare to venture in any close proximity to a social group or lunch table? i suspect there is a fair percentage of those who embrace and participate on the dis b/c of the physiccal separation and personal anonymity it provides.

I don't think you have to go back to High School. I think that if all the people here were in a situation where they had to interact, not many would become good friends.

I think all would be good acquaintances, and would be polite and kind to each other, but I do not think a ton of good long lasting friendships would evolve.

It has nothing to do with the people here, or anywhere. It is just the nature of how friendships are formed. There would be many shallow friendships, so in that sense I guess we would all be friendly, but this place is just one little slice of most people's lives. Good friendships are based on more than that.

Welcome to the Disboards.
:welcome:

…let’s talk about the peeps from Westinghouse or Boys’ Tech if we need to feel “clique ish-ish"….🤣😎

Congrats on your alumni’s now undisputed standing! 👍🏾
I always say I'm glad I went...it was definitely a very good experience...but going to my local HS with my junior high friends would've also been a good experience...just very different. Funny to think how different life would've been if we had chosen that path instead of our nerd HSs. Some sliding doors stuff right there lol.
